Is it free weights or a machine? They are very different.
Best thing is to start slow until you know how your body will respond.
Many times, you will be physically
ableto do things, but pay dearly for them for a few days because your
muscles were not ready for it, particularly when it comes to legs. You
could even injure yourself, so treat yourself like a "wimp" for a week
or two, until you get your body used to working out.
Since weight loss is a goal, I would also include some form of cardio
(running, jumping rope, etc... It's not as fun, but if you combine the
two, you'll see results quicker.
Also, watch what you eat. Smaller portions, healthier options, and have
an extra piece of grilled chiken instead or an extra baked potato.
Protein is your friend, and carbs and sugars are the enemy. Be sure to drink
lots of water at all times, but especially during and after working
out. Good luck!
