PostSubject: Carbohydrates and GH release ...   Wed Apr 16, 2008 4:58 am

Yes, Ive been very curious as most people I know say they feel much better overall after they start a low carb diet, some even reporting better brain function and improved mood. I can say by myself this type of diet works ( at least in me ) as a anti depressant. of course as any Anti depressant it doesnt solve the causes of the disease, but at I can atest its WAY better than any medication Ive taken in my whole life. Its certainly a present and a gift from God to me. I think I read Atkins said that this mood improvement was due to the stabilization of the excess of insulin release, since hiperinsulinemia causes the cells to be resistent to this hormone, thus the cell become poorly fed on glucose and other nutrients .But Ive read also somewhere that GH release is inhibited by High GLicemic Carbohydrates ingestion, and I am trying to figure it out, is the well being felt by most people on Keto diets partially caused by a improvement on GH release as they basically cut all High GLicemic INdex carbs from diet ? I am about to have a test of it on myself, soon, a blood test on a diet very rich on high glicemic carbohydrates and a blood test on a deep ketosis state, checking out the GH levels. I like to ask if possible to any person on keto diets , if you could do this test on yourselves as well.

Thanks
