| Deadlift Day - The moment of truth. Been doing singles for a while now, and today is 1RM day.
40 x 8 130 x 8 218 x 3 288 x 2 388 x 1 (belt) 428 x 1 (felt heavy, but no doubt) 442 x 1 (PR!! This went up better than 428??) 457 x 1 (PR!! super-joy! I had noone to celebrate with so I ran into the kiddos room and said "I'm happy!" This was a grinder, about 1/4 of the way up it started stalling. It was slow in the middle half. Last 1/4 it went smoothly. Maybe had 2-5 lbs more)
Pull Ups:
Palms In x 16 x 7
Palms Out
x 6 x 6
That's good enough for today
Soundtrack
Dio - Holy Diver (both sides)
Rush - 2112 (Side 1) _________________ Hey kid!

"sigh"
In constant revision!!
Well, when I started this Journey last August I said 425-325-450. Well, I'll be the happiest guy there if I squat 375. I figure if all goes well I MIGHT get 275 in the bench, but I have a realistic (adrenaline driven) shot at 475 in the DL. SO, that's where I stand today.
I'm positive I'll hit those first two original numbers sometime....just not in 3 1/2 weeks. _________________ Hey kid!

| Bench Press - Working up to doubles today. Stopping on the weight I can't double.
40 x 5 90 x 5 130 x 5 180 x 3 230 x 2 250 x 2 260 x 2 265 x 1 (A slow but steady grind. Surprised, actually)
Dumbbell BP Flat:
110 x 4
Incline BP Bar:
180 x 9
Overhead Tricep Extentions:
110 x 11 110 x 6
That's all. Pressed for time and my partner did nothing but whine the whole time. I'm afraid I'm losing him! Ah!!!! _________________ Hey kid!

| I want to offer some advice that someone once told me. Try to get to your heavier weight faster. This guy, who was a power lifter, told me you burn up too much energy with the lighter weights when you want to go heavy. Just a thought but maybe worth a shot since the meet is still a little way off. _________________ All our ways that seem so right Lay inside the ways of death All our trying and our denying Paupers and peasants, masters of jest. |

| Squats: 135x10 165x8 190x6 Just did it, it didn't really hurt much more then 135 so maybe doing these is paying off. Curls: 85x14 100x9 110x6 100x8 DB one arm curls: 45x8 55x6 abs _________________ All our ways that seem so right Lay inside the ways of death All our trying and our denying Paupers and peasants, masters of jest. |

I hope this is a trend for you. Maybe doing them (and doing them nice and proper like you have) is some sort of re-hab? Even if the underlying problem never goes away, perhaps strengthening the muscle and connective tissue in the area is helping. Either way, it's good news!! _________________ Hey kid!

| I have been working out, trying some different stuff especially on bench day. I have put the bench under the squat rack and have been lifting off it trying more reps and to move through faster. It's hard without a partner to have to keep changing the weight. Yesterday did the usual cleans with a finish of light weight doing an extra set and did 110 on the military press. I feel for you. One of the biggest things helping my BP the last few months has been a partner and the new and varied equipment I have access to. It's made all the difference. Good that you're mixing things up, though, as that's one thing that's helped me as well. Only going heavy with a certain specific exercise/scheme for a few weeks and then switching. _________________ Hey kid!

| I'm also giving into the fact that I seem to have arthritis in my shoulders which makes everything a little harder. Darn becoming like my parents. I'm taking Glucosamine with fish oil to see if that will help. It didn't help the knee but the shoulders are still minor. _________________ All our ways that seem so right Lay inside the ways of death All our trying and our denying Paupers and peasants, masters of jest. |

| I've been doing and the G&C + Fish oil and it has made a difference noticably in my knee. I don't know if that's a placebo thing in my head, but I don't hurt or swell, so I don't care! Hope the shoulder feels better. I lay off the direct shoulder work any time I notice pains there. I believe that besides the hands/forearms the shoulders are involved in more lifting than any other part. BP - shoulders DL - shoulders all cleans - shoulders squats - shoulders (in a bad way, I'd say) pull ups, push ups, curls, overhead triceps, rows, presses....all of it, shoulders. It's the one area I have to watch closely. _________________ Hey kid!

| I know I sound like an old person on here so I appreciate your encouragement. It sucks but my plan is to fight through it even though I complain a lot. It's like my finger, I jammed it really hard playing basketball and what usually took a week to heal has taken about three months. No break like a thought, just jammed it really well. _________________ All our ways that seem so right Lay inside the ways of death All our trying and our denying Paupers and peasants, masters of jest. |

JUST today playing Vintage Base Ball I took a line-drive off my right hand and my middle finger is, at least, jammed if not sprained (same difference?) and it's turning purple. Funny that you mention that.
Yeah, I've noticed that even small injuries take longer. "Sigh"....it's all part of it, I guess. Keep plugging! _________________ Hey kid!

| DL Day - Last one until the meet. The Hour @ 80% No belt.
40 x 12 130 x 8 200 x 5 288 x 2 368 x 1 x 24 (Finished! Back, hammies, hips felt great. There are unintended consequences, however!)

Stupid, I know, but I wanted to finish! I've got 15 days to heal up so I'm O.K.

| Like last week, it hurts the same at 135 or 205. I do notice I can "feel" it more througout the day afterwards after heavy weight. _________________ All our ways that seem so right Lay inside the ways of death All our trying and our denying Paupers and peasants, masters of jest. |
