| After thinking about last night's squats all day I cam to a realization....It's not so bad!! When I did a 405 squat to a box in the same gear I squatted 555 in full gear so following the same progression and using my box squat as an indicator I should be over 600 in full gear now. Hopefully this line of thinking holds up. Scott, So you're familiar with Westside? After posting last night I was expecting to have to explain what goodmornings were, LOL. I was training at the Elite Fitness Compound for a while so I got a lot of help from Jim Wendler. The guys nuts but he knows his stuff. |

You dog!! I'm so jealous! I used to live in Ohio....but that was before I got bit by the PL bug.
I get the Elite Fitness newsletter and keep up with things there. I even have a sled I had a mechanic here build for me. I'll bring that in later in my progression if I need to do cardio. That's the only way I'll do non-lifting cardio now. If I go running I go backwards in my lifts.
As I get further along I'll do some of the Westside lifts. I got a pair of mini-bands and some chains I got from a junk yard but until my progress slows I keep things pretty simple. In a few months I'll start mixing it up with Westside style movements.
One thing I always do and love is band pushdowns for triceps. The best work I ever do for my triceps are "100's" with those bands! Talk about pain!
Yeah, pretty cool to find someone here who has Westside knowledge/contact.
Due to my desire to stay at 181 or at the very most 198 (if I could stay lean) I don't fall in line with all or probably even most of Westside philosophy but I keep up with their ideas because there's always something to learn and incorporate. Even raw there's so much so learn from them.
Again, I'm glad guys like you, Emptytomb, Ult, Arttie and others are here. It helps keep the fire burning! |

| 10-31-7 ME Bench 1. Reverse Band Bench(Blues)-worked up to 365x1, missed at 405. I had a 1" foam pad( like a wrestling mat) on my chest. It's amazing fow much sinking the bar into that pad changes the movement. 2. Incline Barbell Extensions-95x4x6 3. Chins with a monster mini for resistance-3x5,4,3 4. Band Hammer Curls-Monster Mini-2x20 5. Dumbbell Cleans-25sx3x10 |

| | Is that foam pad a modification of board press? What's the goal of that? |

| With that thickness I would say it's not a variation of the board press. You could have several pieces of foam stacked and use the same reasoning as board presses. I do this also because I am really strong on board presses but get no carryover to my bench press so the risks far outweigh the rewards. The reasoning of the 1" pad is that id deadens the bar making the exercise more difficult. It's something the WS guys are doing in a different version but I talked to Louie Simmons about it and he said to try it my way and see what happens...typical Louie response.LOL! |

Aha! Sounds good to me. Those Westside guys look like the scariest humans on Earth but they are about the most helpful people ever.... Thanks for the explanation!! |

| | You look forward to floor presses?!?!?! I really hate them but sometimes you gotta do what you don't like and get strong on those to get your lifts to take off. |

| 11-19-7 Box Squats 1. Box Squats-185+ 2 blues per side-3x1,1x2,1x1-We set the bands up a bit differen from last week so the band tension was harder. The bands were measured at EFS to be 175 each pair at the top when choked around the monolift. The stretchable bart of the set up we had was shorter that EFS so the tension has to be nore than 350 at the top with 2 blues each side. 2. Rack Pulls from pin #2-225x3 sumo,3 conv.;315x3 sumo,3 conv.;365x3 sumo,3 conv.;405x3 sumo,3 conv;455x1 sumo 3. Shrugs-225x3x8 4. One Arm T-bar rows-70x2x10 each side. |
