| Mods, you can move this if you feel the need. So today I was singing in our choir, and one of our songs spoke of Christ being a "victorious warrior." Now, I've sung that song many times before, but today it hit me as to why I love this one so much... It is because of how that image appeals to me. Jesus is many things. He is the King, yet He is also a servant. He is a Victorious Warrior who won His war by dying. He is both a fountain and a rock. He is a lion, but also a lamb. He is perfect, yet He became sin for us. He is all-powerful, yet made Himself weak for our sakes.... and the list goes on! Obviously, all these things are part of Christ's character, but I wonder if maybe there is not a specific aspect of Jesus which draws all believers to Him, perhaps above the others. Of course, what draws us most is the love He showed for us on the cross, but what image do you aspire most to be? As Christians, we are soldiers, fighting for our Lord, our Savior and King. Only Christ is referred to, ever, or shown as a Warrior. To me, a Warrior is someone who doesn't necessarily fight in the service of any king or country, but for a cause. He is someone who is willing to go to any length, to do anything necessary for the greater good to be serviced, and often... a true, selfless warrior must stand alone... Now of course, we imperfect humans often get it wrong... But Jesus, BEING perfect is, among all other things, the PERFECT, Victorious Warrior. When we rebelled, it was HE who fought for us, and gave his life so that WE could live. HIS thoughts were of we, his stupid, rebellious creation above even his own well-being! That is what I want to be, the part of Him I desire most to emulate. I want Him to give me a willing, generous heart... a heart that always puts others above myself. I want HIM to give me the courage and the strength to do what is right, even when those around me, when all those around me, are doing just the opposite. I want to be just like that Perfect Warrior, who showed by his example just how the battle is to be, and already has been won... But what about you? Is there a picture, an aspect of Christ that draws you more above all else? |

| I love the picture of God as the judge who gives the sentence but then steps down and pays the punishment. But all these are just pieces of who God is and I look forward to the day when we get a better glimpse. _________________ I don't have time for all if it, so I pick my battles. | He was tempted in every way yet was without sin. He knows what we go through. He is not a God who simply sits on high, He became as we are and knows what our lives are like. He sits at the right hand of the Father, making intercession for us. The Great Son of God prays for me! |

| I love the fact that He is so meek and gentle. the kind anyone can approach. the kind that anyone can just look at and know they can confide and trust in Him. just like the Bible shows. I really wish I could be that way. Being slow to be angered is NOT a fruit I'm bearing just yet... Im working on it though through Him _________________ Matthew 5:43-48 John 3:16 Romans 10:9 & 13, 13:8 1 John 3:21-24 Revelation 22:20-21 www.myspace.com/fullyjustifiedband"My house! my house! my house! | I think one of my favorite images of Christ comes from Revelation 19:11-16, at His second coming. This scripture shows Jesus coming back to set up His Kingdom in victory and to squash his enemies. This is a far cry from how Jesus is normally portrayed (i.e. the Social Gospel Jesus, the Jesus-who-was-a-good-moral-teacher, or the Jesus watered down by many churches who don't want to offend non-believers.) Their version of Jesus is usually wimpy, effiminate and doesn't take sin seriously. The scripture in Revelation 19:11-16 shows that Jesus is anything but a wimp; it shows His holy and just side, that He is KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS and not just "gentle Jesus, meek and mild"(which He is those things, but there are the other attributes of Him that a lot of people ignore.) |

AMEN TO THAT!!!! here is a good essay that talks about that (http://www.mindspring.com/~brucec/soft_things.htm). This is actually a defense for Christian Metal but it still hits the nail on the head about the "just" part of Jesus. And it dont go out of the Gospel either._________________ Matthew 5:43-48 John 3:16 Romans 10:9 & 13, 13:8 1 John 3:21-24 Revelation 22:20-21 www.myspace.com/fullyjustifiedband"My house! my house! my house! Great post!!!
Also, remember that when we say Jesus is God that means that Jesus is the God of the Old Testament.

| I have two favorites, actually. 1st, I love the thought of Jesus being "a friend that sticks closer than a brother". Earthly friends will desert you, brothers will abandon you, spouses will divorce you, and even parents will disown you. However, there is someone named Jesus Christ that knows everything about me, even the worst stuff, and He loves me anyway. Now THAT's a real friend. 2nd, I love thinking of Him as a King. The King is in charge of the kingdom, and leads us into battle. If we move without His orders, we die in the fight. If we listen and obey His commands, He will give us victory over darkness. It may still cost our lives, but He is the most awesome King who will reward our service with a new, perfect life. Awesome and Amen! That is so like our Lord to know our deepest, darkest secrets, to know just how dark our hearts really are and yet, He still loves us and wants us. That just blows me away. |

| When I was a little tyke I used to have weird nightmares quite often. Then my Mom told me about the following, taken from Mark 4:35-41: On that day, when evening came, He said to them, "Let us go over to the other side." Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?" They became very much afraid and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?" That pretty much put an end to my nightmares. It seemed I didn't have a lot to worry about if Jesus could tell even Mother Nature to shut up and sit down. So the image of Jesus as the ultimate power is a big one for me. Also, I love this from Mark 10:13-16: And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, "Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. "Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all." And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands on them. The image of Jesus showing compassion and genuine affection for little kids is just awesome. That's who my God is. |
