do you remember your advertising department had a separate art department which employed artists that sat at real art desks (not computer desks) and drew the ads

I remember!! You are still loved by those of us who know how much work you truely did - not to mention how well you did it!! How could you go from that creative of a process to "managing" some of the retail employees I know you have?

I still do majority of my art at a desk/drawing table and then put it into the computer.

I did that for many years, but it was all CAD.

I left it to homeschool my son and went into retail for the flexibility. I could homeschool in the daytime and work nights and weekends while my husband watched our son. We did not need childcare.

The 10+ years that I homeschooled I worked for Pier 1 Imports and channeled my creativity into design. Plus I still did artwork on the side, both paid and volunteer - everything from the monthly homeschool newsletter to various photography projects which was my true forte. (The newspaper job also included advertising and sports photography on an "as need" basis)

I never regretted it because homeschooling our son was worth it. It gave us great pleasure and our son (now 21) tells everyone he had the best childhood ever. He's doing great in college and yes, both socially and academically! Razz

I test high voltage equipment, like cables, switchgear, transformers and EWPs for an electrical company called Integral Energy, based in western Sydney.

A bit boring sometimes, but its better than being a regular electrician, especially with the erratic Sydney weather of late, and the base is really close to home. Before I started there I was driving 2 hours a day round trip to work at a nursing home I was doing electrical work on.
