You'd be a legend where I work. After years of withering inside warehouses I was accepted and now work at a ranch for troubled teen boys and recently moved into the position of Family Service Director. I plan the intakes of the boys and the family teaching weekends. My learning qualifications are that I was one of these boys and empathy goes a long way. I am considedered a missionary and live on the generosity of some amazing people. _________________ I don't have time for all if it, so I pick my battles. I concentrate on spotting and weeding out satanic paper, handkerchiefs (do you really want Satan that close to your nose?) and eggs. I can spot satanic eggs at Wal Mart like a frickin' drug sniffing dog.

| I used to do Construction, mainly the mechanical side(plumbing, hvac, pipelines, ect), but there isn't any work in that right now so I take whatever work I can find, at whatever pay I can get, for however long I can do it for. Heh. It ALMOST pays the bills. |

Once, I was a print journalist - until everyone stopped reading newspapers! ! Now, I have a useless degree in an obselete field! |
.... and know how to layout a print quality issue with blue paper, wax machines and exacto knives are at a loss in today's news environment. I mean I know many a friend who's first job outta college was to call the area funeral homes each night, ask "who ya got?" and write obits for $100 a week. That's the story of print journalism. Mass Communications has changed drastically. Whatever you're doing in school is entirely different from the skills I learned and know. Best of luck!! |
In those days, do you remember your advertising department had a separate art department which employed artists that sat at real art desks (not computer desks) and drew the ads on the afore-mentioned blue paper with real graphite pencils and used huge clip-art books or hand-drew pen and ink illustrations to be photocopied on the big camera in the back darkroom for publication?
**raises her hand** HERE I AM!
I was also a photo restoration artist before Photoshop. Customers would bring me their old, torn, but very precious photos and I would restore them. I would copy the original with a 4X5 camera and make a larger work print. I would then use lquid dyes, grey tone graphite pencils and an airbrush to repair all the "holes" and "cracks" from the original. Recopy the work print and then make new prints from the new negative.
I could change the background, slim down faces, add facial hair, take away pimples, scars and even remove people from photos - anything the customer wanted, I would change or repair from the original.
All that is truly obsolete and not needed... so now I am a retail manager. _________________ "Who among the gods is like you, O LORD ? | I manage to keep Exo, mostly clean, well fed, and surrounded by LOVE. I also have the awesome responsibility of raising 6 souls for Christ through teaching, training, and disciplining. I am rather anti-feminist in my thinking, I believe wholeheartedly in the biblical model of womanhood, and am very content in the role God has given me! _________________ When a man says it's a silly childish game, it's probably something his wife can beat him at. -- Don Epperson

| Exo, you work an honest job and work hard. You also help with 6 beautiful people who are blessings to not only you and the Mrs. but the world. You have my respect. Mrs. Exo, you are a saint. I think you and my wife would have a lot in common. _________________ I don't have time for all if it, so I pick my battles. | I am not a saint! Far from but I am forgiven and striving every day to be a better wife and mother. Don't let Exo fool you, he could have any job he wanted. He is a very intelligent man, but he LIKES his job! It took a few tries to find one he likes so I am happy that he is happy! _________________ When a man says it's a silly childish game, it's probably something his wife can beat him at. -- Don Epperson

| I'm an assistant manager and an auto parts store in quite possibly the dumbest section of the country. Do you know what a "skribidah" is? Yeah, I didn't either and it scares me that I know now. I'm also a freelance writer. I really hope to do more a-writin' and less a-skribidah fetchin'. Additionally, I am in posession of a worthless degree! |

| I am also a "can stacker," unfortunately. I will be leaving the "profession" to pursue academic interests in the near future. My heart goes out to those who have to feed families on what these wages pay. |
