I knew of "flirty fishing" from the articles on the COG that Cornerstone put out in the 90's Moses David Berg was the leader of the cult, and they were/are disgusting, IMO.
The only beef I have with the Wikipedia blurb is putting the COG in the "evangelical Christian" camp. They are anything but.

Stop acting all 'Fundy' over it. I was just trying to lighten up the thread a bit. I apologize for those who got offended, but I said nothing vulgar or inappropriate. You married folks know exactly what I'm talking about. I'm glad that some folks got the humor in it. Sex and all of its various stages, including orgasm, were created by Almighty God.
Mormons also claim to be 'fellow Christians,' Tall Tyrion. I agree with what Shred said earlier in this thread. There comes a point where we break fellowship with some people and no longer acknowledge them as our brothers and sisters in Christ until they display evidence of genuine repentance. It's unfortunate, but some of those involved in this ministry investigation define what a 'Christian' is in a very shallow manner, much like the beliefs they adhere to and their knowledge of Scripture itself. |

Does this statement (joking or not) this show the genuine repentance of which you speak?
I am an extremely liberal Christian. Even in most areas of sexuality. But some of the jokes and stuff I have seen on this board lately are things that I wouldn't have said even on my worst day. It really surprises me sometimes.

| 1-I can bet you money she wouldn't treat you the same way, specifically because of doctrinal/interpretational differences.
2-BTW-For many years now, I've learned more about practical every day Christian living from Joyce Meyer than just about anyone else. I find what she has to say as reliable and useful as anything Charles Stanley has taught. I don't find I need to agree with every single doctrinal view to find sometrhing edifying about what someone has to say and I also find I have discernment enough to discard things that seem goofy...wow-freedom in Christ rather than doctrinal rigidity and cronyism...what a concept! 
3. No one has yet provided chapter and verse to prove emphatically that one believer can oust another out of the Kingdom for ANY reason, including doctrinal /interpretational differences and I'm pretty sure they can't. So, running with the assumption that anyone here can is both arrogant, rude and annoying as hell. It's one thing to disagree or dislike the preaching style of someone; it's another to be outright rude because of your own interpretational issues towards a woman who:
a. has done you no wrong
b. is not here to defend herself

you absolutely DID say something vulgar and innappropriate. that you dont recognize the wrong in what you said and actually tried to excuse your behavior by blaming it on Fundamentalists for not 'getting' your so-called sense of humor is the height of disrespect for fellow Christians.
AWA had it right, on all counts. |
