PostSubject: Thank You "Rock Band" (Video Game)   Fri Jul 10, 2009 9:16 pm

I would like to thank the creators of Rock Band, the Video Game. (TM)

My kids, (16,14,9) bought it with their Christmas money......and, recently, bought (with, their money) Rock Band II (TM, for GW).....( Razz )......

Anywhoo......my kids have been listening to, and enjoying, music that their mother (baby-momma, Razz ) and I, greatly enjoyed throughout our "yutes".

My kids have down-loaded, legally, various songs that we consider classics!!

Also, my daughter, that I had previously tried to get into Flyleaf and Fireflight, to no avail, is now singing the Flyleaf song "Sick" all the time......

Tonight, after MANY times, telling my son, "you play this on the game, you could play this on guitar" repeatedly, he came upstairs, got his amp and guitar (which he hasn't touched in at least a year) plugged in, and learned the intros to Aqualung and Carry On.......this was after I had sung the vocals on "Pinball Wizard" and "Aqualung".......

So, to summarize: The Video Game Rock Band, has brought Much-More Rock to the L8T household.

Thank You

Because of that video game, you see a lot of classic rock band t-shirts at places like Walmart. I had kids at my old church whose favorite bands were Journey and Bon Jovi because of that game. Guitar Hero and Rock Band have, so some extent, made our music what the kids listen to. The games were more than just games--they are cultural phenomenons.

It was actually guitar hero that started it all..
But nonetheless both have been good for rock music.

Not at my house it wasn't..... Razz

I just think it is pretty cool how I can have a whole room full of kids, 8-12 sometimes, with 4 of them being a band (bass, guitar, vocals, and drums) and all the others watching and waiting their turn.....It just seems like it gets alot more people involved, and, the others only have to wait the length of a song, so, it appears that it is much more of a group activity.

I've had friends inspired to pick up instruments because of that game.

I agree, it does give exposure to stuff people wouldn't normally listen to...I just wish the selection was a little better. Though I did hear Alice in Chains for the first time via this game.

Thank God for the RockBand2 cymbal kits.

I modified them to work with my electronic drum set.

Much cheaper then the actual cymbals! Very Happy
