Medical personnel at Guantanamo requested the doses, but Crabtree said he did not know how many.
Detainees will be vaccinated "entirely on a voluntary basis," he said. "There is always going to be a segment of the population that is going to refuse," either due to anxiety about a shot or to "distrust of our motivations."
The top House Republican, Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, told CNN's "State of the Union" show on Sunday that he does not agree with the H1N1 vaccination plans for detainees at Guantanamo.
"I don't think it's a good idea. The administration probably didn't think it would be very popular either; that's why they announced it on Friday night," Boehner said.
The Miami Herald first reported about the vaccination plans on Wednesday.
Health officials have recommended that people in high-risk groups receive the swine flu vaccination first. There has been heated debate in several U.S. states about where prisoners should fall in the pecking order of vaccine recipients.

I'm thinking that a lot of the prisoners will decline to be injected out of fear that it could be a lethal injection or something like that. If they think America is the 'Great Satan', are they going to want to let "satan" inject them with a virus in any form?

It's not an injection. The most prominent form of "vaccine" is taken through the nose, and is a live form of the virus. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of those "inoculated" ended up dying from Swine Flu.

That said, I find it hilarious that under this administration, terrorists get vaccines before a civilian population that has experienced dozens of thousands of deaths.

So you mean some of the terrorist detainees could end up dying from Swine Flu as a result of the vaccine?

Well Obama promised to close Club Gitmo by January, so they don't have long to vaccinate them...

We're talking about a few hundred doses of this vaccine, while millions are needed to make up the shortfall in the general population. It also protects the guards who interact with these detainees. This is nothing to get worked up about. Sure, it looks bad. But if you really consider the facts and the situation, its logical and not a problem.

This is one more example of why government health care will inevitably
lead to rationing. If private companies were to be allowed to
manufacture flu vaccines, there would be plenty to go around, but
because the government mandates by law that they have an exclusive
right to make them, there is a shortfall each year.
