It's true of some/many. It isn't at all exclusive to african american culture but rather a common component of fallen human nature.

You're a smart man. Every special interest group uses these type of skewed 'studies' and 'statisitics' to be anti-someone else and 'please pity me and my group'. Nothing new.

Something I find odd and interesting is that many of the very well educated blacks (not all) spend most of their time and life's work toward only talking about how their people have been opressed and mistreated here, just to a greater degree of literacy than the average. It's kind of boring. I'm honesly not sure if they stay with that slant in their mind because it's convenient or because they really do believe that they can't get ahead or do well at something even if they try because THE MAN is always there to bring them down and slam the door of opportunity in their face.

They also have a lot of confusion and backlash within the community if they do well for themselves as in being called Uncle Tom's, Oreos, i.e. being a slave again (willingly) or hating their own black identity and being viewed as becoming 'white' if they speak properly and become successful at something. THEN, they get called sellouts if they do become successful and don't turn around and give handouts to their own people just because they are both black. Suspect

I think the underlying idea in saying blacks are naturally less intelligent is a way to say without saying, you blacks are no part of the actual success of America and therefore should not share in the fruits of that labour. It's your own fault for being black so cry me a river.

Frankly, I'm not sure which view(s), both within the community and this highly racist view is the more convoluted extreme nonsense.

Well, whether we admit it or not, we do live in a highly racist culture ... (in America, that is) and I think in many cases there is a bitterness that has been carried throughout a colored person's life that is almost impossible to let go of. For someone who actually does have an education and an opportunity for sucess, it can be the (perhaps irrational) emotional scar that drives them to continue to act like they are being held down.

Yes I think this is silly as well. Though I do admire the community's emphasis on loyalty (which is IMPORTANT, if you ask me), it is also used to manipulate and divide. It comes down to personal responsibility ... and whether you are white, black, or green, you cannot escape the transparency of fakeness (for lack of a better term)

This is the WHITE way of not taking responsibility for anything. Honestly, there is no community anywhere in which you cannot find people who complain and whine and blame in order to take the attention off their own bitterness. You made a point earlier about blacks who are educated and have opportunities and yet still spend their careers focusing on how everyone is held down. This is what the person who wrote this article has done, except he/she is on the other side of the fence. Complaining about how blacks hold us down??? PLEEEEAASE!! There are safety issues WHEREVER you go ... I live in Phoenix, Arizona, and it is plain to see that not ALL bad neighborhoods are populated by black people. This person is projecting his/her own self-hatred on the black race when perhaps the only thing holding them down is the very hatred that they cannot let go of. Its amazing what your own mind can trick you into believing.

Wow, just a lot of agreement in here. Parts of the article were utter bogus, but I think we've pared it down to soem truths.
