I like it as well, but I've never seen the sequel. Probably wont now that you say that.

One of my favorite movies! The edit has to have sucked!

There's a sequel in production right now. I'm really leery about that but the trailers look good.

This thing would be great if you like that "speed up/slow down" style of camera work for all the attacks. I also thought the movie was virtually plotless compared to the first one and also a lot gorier. Normally the gore factor would make me favor the sequel but not in this case; that stupid style of cinematography needs to die.

I've put a conscious attempt to put a limit on the bloodletting I allow myself to digest on a regular basis.... The Descent was pretty good I don't what they actually edited because there was plenty of gore galore, the plot sorta reminded me of 'The Cave'....

If you're trying to limit your exposure to bloodletting, then the edited version was the way to go. I'm a jaded gorehound so while I recognize The Descent is pretty gory, I've seen movies that are at least 10 times worse so it really didn't impress me as a gore flick.

I was more impressed that the movie has no male leads; the whole flick is carried by women. I can't remember another horror movie where that is the case.

The filmmakers would never admit to it, but I still believe that both The Descent and The Cave were at least inspired by, if not based on Jeff Long's novel The Descent. Which by the way is similar, but far more interesting in terms of plot than either film.
