| 2 Books: Tigers In Combat I and Tigers In Combat II, both by Wolfgang Schneider. I'm reading both of these books as I *professionally procrastinate* making the post for FSW about the PzKpfw VI model E and PzKpfw VI model B German WW II tanks. I've had these books on my bookshelf for a couple of years....and so I decided to read them. Both of these books are pictorial books.....that document through photos the combat careers of both the Tiger I and Tiger II. Excellent photos.......just excellent. _________________ "The 'farce' is strong with Obama-Wan." words of Scourge.

| I just finished reading The Sullivan Clinton Campaign of 1779: Chronology and Selected Douments. Its a basic acount of the campaign to push the indians out of New York during the Revolution and contains hundreds of journals form the soldiers who took part on both sides of the campaign. Right now, I'm reading Year of the Hangman by Glenn F Williams. Its also about the Sullivan Clinton Campaign, but gives a better account of the Battle of Newtown (one of the worst defeats of the british in the entire war). Next I'm gonna start a reading project on the actual events behind historical movies. I'm either gonna read Betrayals:Fort William Henry and the "Massacre" (Last of the Mohicans) by Ian K. Steele or I'll read The Man-eaters of Tsavo (The Ghost and the Darkness) by John Henry Patterson. |

| From Pike To Shot: Armies And Battles In Western Europe 1685 to 1720 by Charles S. Grant. This is simply a superb book. It is intended as a reference book, but it is packed with so much information and is so well written that it moves beyond the reference label IMO. It is a study of the tactics extant on European battlefields within these dates. After a detailed discussion of tactics, each armies' uniforms, organisation, campaigns, and battles are examined in depth. The armies covered are the English, Jacobite, French, Austrian, Bavarian, Danish, Dutch, German, Prussian, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Good schtuff. _________________ "The 'farce' is strong with Obama-Wan." words of Scourge.

| German Aces Of World War I: The Pictorial Record by Norman Franks. I'm rather pressed for time as I make this post......so i'll just cut and paste the writeup from the book. (I usually don't do that, I usually write my own stuff) "Over 330 B&W photos. The air aces of Imperial Germany’s Luftstreitkräfte are an ever-popular subject among aviation historians, enthusiasts, war gamers, and aircraft modelers. The images of famous airmen such as Manfred von Richthofen, Ernst Udet, and Werner Voss are well known and frequently published, but the same cannot be said for all of the over 300 German airmen who achieved five or more aerial victories in the Great War. Their stories have often been published, but never have as many photographs of the aces been assembled within the pages of one volume. Of necessity these photos vary widely in style, format and quality, yet they serve to reveal a good deal of information about the pilots and the multitude of different uniforms and decorations they wore. Students of World War I aircraft will also find useful illustrations of the various machines in which these pilots attained their fame. Over 330 photographs of the aces are provided. The aces are listed in ‘score’ order, starting with the ‘Red Baron’ himself with eighty victories, and proceeding down the list to the last alphabetically ordered airman with five claims, Martin Zander. Each photograph is accompanied by a brief service history and victory total of the ace." _________________ "The 'farce' is strong with Obama-Wan." words of Scourge.
