| Thanks! Yes, Digi cams rule - we had three of them - one for each person And luckily we were able to transfer the photos to the laptop of friends and burn them to DVD. Otherwise our SD cards would not have been enough...
Actually we did feel more save in Israel than I thought before. The most dangerous thing was the traffic in the cities Of course there are a lot of security checks even before entering some bus stations, shopping malls or places of interest - we got used to it rather quickly... First time we crossed the border to the palestine area at Bethlehem they didn't even want to see our passports... |

| SNERT!!
Your pics bring back SO many awesome memories. I visited Israel in the summer of 2001. It's really lovely there..
Thanks for sharing.
I have so many questions..like..
Did you guys hike up the waterfalls and pools above that spot in En Gedi?
Did you hike the serpent/snake path up to Masada or take the tram?
Did you go to the amazing park in Northern Israel/border of Lebanon?
Did you visit the tunnels/old city underneath the Temple Mount? (entrance in the very left corner of the gentleman's side of the Wailing Wall (where the prayers are faxed in, lol)?
Did you eat falafel?
Did you guys do the baptism thing on the Jordan?
Did you visit the boat museum somewhat adjacent to Capernaum or take a boat ride on the Galilee?
Did the Palestinians in Bethlehem ask to purchase your wife? Did you drive across the Golan Heights? Did you visit Tulkarem? Yod Vashem?
Do you wish I would stop asking so many questions?

I felt very safe there as well...EXCEPT when a military helicopter landed near us on the beach. You get used to the sight and sound of F-16's flying overhead in a day or so. Yes-let me make this abundantly clear: Pedestrians have the right of way does NOT exist here. DOES NOT EXIST. I think a pedestrian will get in more trouble with the law for making traffic unsafe by crossing the street at a badd time than a driver will for hitting you. If you live, the police will just laugh at you or call you a moron. Bethlehem...they are so desperate for tourist dollar$. It was like a ghost town when I went. Literally people came from their homes because 55 of us wanted to have lunch and go shopping. Didn't we feel like rockstarz!! It was weird and kind of sadd, tho. :\ _________________ only symbols can be twisted ,burned, spat on etc.NOTHING truly Holy can be desecrated.....

| Nice and interesting pics Snert. Good and informative captions too. You said and posted:
| Quote: | This is the Golden Gate of Jerusalem. Süleyman, a muslim emporer, walled up the gate in the 16th century, probably 'cause the Jews believe the messiah will enter Jerusalem through this gate. Further the muslims built a graveyard in front of the gate, 'cause for Jews it's an unclean place and probably the muslim thought the messiah wouldn't cross it.
 |
I don't know how HE is going to do it.......but HE will do it. Think how surprised the Muslims will be then.

| @GW Probably the muslims thought/think that the Messiah will be just another human prophet who will free Israel by human force (maybe like the Jews thought under the oppression by the Romans). With our knowledge about the Messiah it looks rather silly to try to stop him in this way.
@Angel with Attitude Cool, that you've been there, too! I think I'll open another thread to answer your questions I don't want to write too much in a photo thread.
I've opened one HERE

It does indeed. "Silly" would be the word. Everyday my *view* seems to just be full of those "silly" Muslims. Tick--Tock Islam. Your time in/with Islam is running out satan. (I refuse to capitalize it out of disrespect)

| I know that feeling. I had about 2000 CDs in a one bedroom apartment. The racks were full and I had piles of discs everywhere. Now that I have a house, I have more room to expand. But I still have about 40 CDs sliding around on the passenger seat and floorboards of my car. I also have a stack on the island in the kitchen that I need to listen to yet. _________________ "Cat people are different to the extent that they generally are not conformists. Yeah, since I drive a sports car, my back seat is vestigial at best. But the front passenger side is completely uninhabitable. _________________ "Cat people are different to the extent that they generally are not conformists. How could they be with a cat running their lives?" - Anonymous |

| BTW, one of my goals for the four day holiday weekend is to clear off my front passenger seat and either file those CDs or add them to the "need to listen to" pile on the kitchen Island. _________________ "Cat people are different to the extent that they generally are not conformists.
