Fitzhugh is indeed an Anglo/Norman name. But in reality......lose the *Anglo--Saxon* part of the equation......as it is an entirely Norman French derivative of a Latin name/word. Because the Normans originally came from Normandy in France......they spoke French.....and brought that language over with them after the Norman Conquest in 1066 A.D. and the start of the melding of the Norman French and Anglo--Saxon/Danish tongues. So.....as you've mentioned......Fitzhugh is a Norman French name/word. But what is its meaning?? Question
