It's called health care rationing. Of course, the government will come up with a flowery name for it, but that's what it will be. Age, prior health history, etc will factor into the decision, guaranteed. You think waiting lists in Canada and England are bad (since those are the "amazing systems" we always hear about)? Considering we have roughly 10x the population of either country....do the math.

| It's already happening at the state level. I need an MRI for my knee and can't get one. | A couple of quoted articles about the current election situation in Iran, and the Dark Lord's reaction to it: | Quote: | | "The [Iranian] election allowed the political space and provided the spark for the eruption of anti-regime fervor that has been simmering for years and awaiting its moment. But people aren't dying in the street because they want a recount of hanging chads in suburban Isfahan. They want to bring down the tyrannical, misogynist, corrupt theocracy that has imposed itself with the very baton-wielding goons that today attack the demonstrators. ... What's at stake now is the very legitimacy of this regime -- and the future of the entire Middle East. This revolution will end either as a Tiananmen (a hot Tiananmen with massive and bloody repression or a cold Tiananmen with a finer mix of brutality and co-optation) or as a true revolution that brings down the Islamic Republic. The latter is improbable but, for the first time in 30 years, not impossible. Imagine the repercussions. ... The entire trajectory of the region is reversed. All hangs in the balance. The Khamenei regime is deciding whether to do a Tiananmen. And what side is the Obama administration taking? None."--columnist Charles Krauthammer |
| Quote: | | "If Iranian voters had thrown Mahmoud Ahmadinejad into the street, the American president would have assumed that he was the One who did it, and the American press would have led the hosannas for the messiah from the south side of Chicago. Just a few more speeches, a few more respectful bows toward Mecca, and all the rough places would be made smooth and plain. But now even Mr. Obama must wake up and smell the tear gas. The prospect that a victory by the Iranian moderates would cure what's wrong in the Middle East was a hookah dream from the start, a tale of the Arabian night indulged by those unable to bear the sight, sound and responsibility posed by reality. Iran is not ruled by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, but by the head ayatollah, the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and his pigsty of brutal mullahs. ... The election results, together with the high probability that the result was tinkered with if not rigged, and the cops and troops controlling the streets with clubs and tear gas suggest that, surprise, surprise, Mr. Ahmadinejad is getting away with it. From the capitals of the West, there was mostly spluttering and whining. The French foreign minister said the treatment of the demonstrators was 'somewhat brutal,' the operative word apparently the 'somewhat,' and the German government said the Tehran reaction was 'unacceptable,' which is diplo-speak for, 'is there any more tea?' There was all but silence from the White House, where Mr. Obama said he was pleased with the 'robust debate' in Iran, proving only that he's easily pleased and eager to get back to what he does best, wrapping appeasement of the enemy in the sticky warmth of mere words."--Washington Times editor emeritus Wesley Pruden |
Ya' know......when it comes to foreign policy.....the Sith Lord Obama--Wan is an imbecile. Nah...... .....on second thought......perhaps he is just an imbecile in general. My seventeen year old daughter could run/operate a more logical and coherent foreign policy than the gutless, spineless, (seemingly) brainless Dark Lord. _________________ "The 'farce' is strong with Sith Lord Obama-Wan." words of Scourge.

Sorry, bro...I gotta take issue with the sentiments here.....It doesn't take a lot to realize that with the US STILL playing the role of "The Great Satan" for the Iranian regime.....ANy voiced support for the dissidents ABSOLUTELY will result in horrendous bloodshed as the regime cracks down on the protesters. It'll make Tiananmen look like a pleasant stroll thru the daisies. And it's not exactly like Obama can voice support FOR the regime and Ahmedinijabajaba........This is one of those situations where it is VERY MUCH in the best interest of the US AND the dissident factions for the President to do EXACTLY as he has done, and maintain a facade of neutrality, NOT speaking out.
The US' public voice can do NOTHING but hurt the Iranian dissenters if it is heard at all...the Regime in Iran will do what it will, REGARDLESS of our President's spoken position, but speaking in support of the dissenters will most certainly tip the scales in an unfavorable way for them. _________________ Obama is no more the Anti-Christ than George Bush is Sauron, sending his armies into Iraq searching for the One Ring.....

| Points: 1. I need to add my daily comment on this thread. I love the Sith Lord Obama--Wan. There!! 2. BTW good luck to Texas, or any other state for that matter, in seceding from the Union. Good freaking luck there. Lincoln rather set a precedent in not allowing it to happen back in the 1860s. This nation--state would literally have to *come apart at the seams* for that to be able to happen. Meh.....may happen within our lifetimes. We'll see, won't we?? _________________ "The 'farce' is strong with Sith Lord Obama-Wan." words of Scourge.

I should.
I can see it now...
Texas secedes from the Union and Barak H. Obama responds with the strongest possible adjectives. He is "shocked and surprised" as well as "mortified, stupified and terrified".
"Let me be clear" said TOTUS Obama. "This action by Texas is morally reprehensible, completely reckless, egregious and outrageous"
Joe Biden leaned into the microphone at the White House press conferance with some adjectives of his own, condemning the secession as "totally whack". The vice-president added that "These fools are up in our grill with dis s***.... Dey be rollin' and we be hatin'..."
President Obama pledged to "scour the thesausus" in order to counter the action, which he deemed "rash and reprehensible". He also indicated that he was not afraid to use adverbs if necessary._________________ “If you make less than $250,000 your taxes will not go up.
