| And there is the token Nascar thread post... Nascar is just a way to kill time until football starts again. That said, I like racing... not as much as I used to.... Soon as I turn it on we get a big wreck. |

| The wrecks are the ONLY reason to watch NASCAR. If not for those, the freeway during rush hour is more exciting! _________________ "I have no desire to speak w/other tongues, I already do enough damage w/the one I have!!" - Candlemass |

| If you've never seen it, live, you don't get it. Television does it no justice. Until you go to Taladega and watch 30 cars whiz by within feet of each other at over 195mph, you simply can't fathom the sport involved. And while I would agree drivers are probably not athletes, per se, they are extremely talented at what they do. And there is no other sport where you have to trust your opponents as much as you do in racing. |

| Not a huge racing fan, but, I do agree with Acorn, that, live it really is something else. Spent many years, going to Indy, for time-trials, never the race, and spent some time at some small dirt tracks in Indiana.....you can get into as much mischief as you want,.... , but, that doesn't mean that that is why people are there.... I do watch some of it on tv, and, I do understand the attraction. My kids are probably bigger NASCAR fans than me. I don't care that they aren't considered athletes, they are Freaks, they do something that I can't, and they do it at a level that I can only fantasize about. That being said, you don't get more redneck than your local dirt track........I challenge anyone to suggest a venue with a larger redneck milieu. _________________ I'm not going to taste you to verify if you have bad taste or not, but let's just say I strongly suspect that you do.

| AWSOME Budwiser Shoot Out Tonight!! Nice little finish for Kevin Harvick! My dude Jeff Gordon managed to come out smelling like a rose (as ussual) with a 4th place finish! Tough night for Dale Jr., Greg Biffle, Jimmy Johnson and quite a few others but I am sure that they all learned allot of valuable info about the track tonight!!! Well, they can always use these banged up cars at Bristol Baby!!! It should be an interesting Daytona 500.. Nice thread Biker Girl Baby Love the NEW avatar!! | Funny that it should be called non-athletic, given the stresses placed on the body of the driver by that sport. |

| I'm a big NASCAR fan and NHRA. They both started-up this weekend. #39 Ryan Newman is my favorite driver in NASCAR. Larry Dixon is my favorite NHRA driver. Wait in a couple weeks. I'll post a BASSMASTER CLASSIC thread. |

| not really nascar related but still racing, apparently Michael Schumacher is fitter than allot of pro soccer players. Doesnt means hes good at soccer but he can last allot longer than they can.. to say that race car drivers are not athletes is just an assumption which is wrong. Craig Loundes who drives for ford in the Aussie V8 supercar championship is as fit as any footballer. I do think there are better forms of car racing then nascar and I mentioned two of them above, watching cars go around an oval for hundreds of laps doesnt sound too interesting to me. But that said, to each his own.. |

| Watched the race tonight... Plenty of action right up to the end! I hate the frozen positioning rule that goes into effect with a yellow after restart, but I can kind of understand it, because otherwise drivers could intentionally wreck competitors at the end of the race to help their teams score points.
