The answer and a new question.
1. The question was:
"In WW II the Germans had three AFVs (
Armored
Fighting
Vehicles) named after wild cats. Two of them were the
Panzerkampfwagen V Panther tank, and the
Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger tank.
What was the other AFV named?
A--The Leopard.
B--The Puma.
C--The
Richardus Catticus Burtonus.
D--The Mountain Lion.
E--The Cougar.
F--The Alley Cat."
2. The answers were Mr.Electric saying Cougar.
FSW saying Puma.
L8T, Intrigued1, and Black Rider all said Leopard.
3. And the correct answer is.......(Insert drumroll here)........B--The Puma.
The Puma was the name given to the
Panzerspahwagen 234 (armored scout car 234) which was actually quite a nasty little beast. It had a main gun (beside the machine guns) which was larger than a lot of the tanks in WW II.
So the Germans in WW II had the Panther, Tiger, and Puma.
4. I said the next question would be about World War I airplanes, and Intrigued1 said:
Quote:
I will guess the sopwith camel.
Smartypants.
Black Rider then said:
Quote:
The Sopwith Camel rules them all.
Tell that to all the fighter pilot trainees who were killed while learning how to fly the thing. Between the extremely high engine torque, screwing around with the fuel amount shifting the center of gravity, and absolutely vicious flight characteristics when it entered a spin, a lot of men died just learning to control and fly it.
5. My absolute favorite German fighter of WW I is the Pfalz D.XII.
I would take a Pfalz D.XII against a Camel any day of the week.
6. So.......let's see how much you Sopwith Camel lovers know about the plane.
Why was it named the *Camel*?
