| That's about what we have too; between 1/4 and 1/2 inch. Fortunately, I have a garage now so no scraping required but I lived in an apartment for 10 years and have had to sandblast my windshield clean before. Don't miss those days. I will say MODOT has done an outstanding job on the area roads to this point. They're pretty much just wet. _________________ "Cat people are different to the extent that they generally are not conformists. How could they be with a cat running their lives?" - Anonymous |

| The wife had a DR/s appointment and then a trip to the store to make today, and if she's not back shortly, I may get worried. The roads here are OK during the day right no, but once the sun goes down........ _________________

| Thanks for the prayers! We have a massive ice storm on the way tonight! The last time this happened (2005) I had all my ex-in-laws staying with me for days because they had no power.
Here are some Wichita ice storm pics from 2005:

| Impending ice storm prompts state of emergency
BY STAN FINGER
The Wichita Eagle
With another round of freezing rain and ice expected, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius today declared a state of emergency in all 105 counties.
Sebelius cited warnings from the National Weather Service that parts of Kansas could expect up to 2 inches of ice before the storm ends late Tuesday and early Wednesday. The state's emergency operations center was activated to coordinate the response to the storm. "Get ready," she said during a meeting of state legislative leaders. A disaster declaration allows local officials to call upon the state for assistance, such as the use of heavy equipment or helicopters. Spokesman Seth Bundy said making all 105 counties part of the declaration kept the state ahead of the storm. The ice storm, which moved into Wichita at about 2 p.m., has prompted local schools -- including USD 259 -- to cancel all after-school and evening meetings and activities for tonight. Wichita State closed at 5 p.m. Final exams scheduled for tonight are rescheduled for the same time next Monday. A decision will be made later on Tuesday's classes. The storm, which is projected to make the evening commute treacherous, is being compared to one of the worst winter storms to ever hit the region. The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for eight counties in south-central Kansas, including much of the Wichita metropolitan area. The warning lasts from noon today until midnight Tuesday and includes Sedgwick, Butler, Kingman, Harper, Sumner, Cowley, Greenwood and Woodson counties. Several counties to the north of this area are under a winter storm warning. A quarter-inch of ice could fall by the time the evening commute commences. The state activated its emergency operations center to manage the storm response. The leading edges of the next round of precipitation were beginning to fall along a line from Fort Scott to Wichita. The USD 259 cancellations include athletic contests, practices, tryouts, rehearsals and performances. Spokeswoman Susan Arensman said the only exception to the cancellations is the elementary-school-age program, which will continue as scheduled. Campus High School and Haysville Middle School officials canceled all activities and practices scheduled for tonight. The ice will really accumulate tonight and through the early morning hours Tuesday, forecasters say, and nearly an inch of ice could accumulate on tree limbs and power lines by the time the storm ends late Tuesday afternoon. That's similar to the ice storm that paralyzed the region in January 2005. "With the long duration" of freezing rain expected, "it would be kind of comparable to that," National Weather Service meteorologist Janet Spurgeon said. "You never know, but I'm sure there will be some outages. "Get your shopping done -- your matches, candles, that type of thing. It would be good to get it done real quick." USD 259 spokeswoman Wendy Johnson said district officials will be monitoring conditions throughout the afternoon and evening to see what other school activities need to be postponed because of the storm. Numerous cancellations are being reported around the state for events as far out as Wednesday. | We have a state of emergency in parts of MO too. Not here though. Here's the tree in my front yard as it looked tonight.

| I think we are half way through it now in KC. They closed all the schools last night (but AFTER my son did his homework, to his chagrin) I was expecting to skate to work this morning, but other than the 1/4 inch of ice on the car, it was just wet. Still raining, been raining all night, but never got quite as cold as they thought. Anything stationary is covered in ice, but the roads on the Kansas side were fine. I hear its supposed to continue this afternoon so the ride home will be a treat. I tried a new trick last night and after I flipped up my windshield wipers, I covered the mirrors with plastic bags (cause you can never get the ice off without heat) it worked great. I'm in Overland Park, KS . . . where are the rest of you Kansans and Miserians? (er Missourians) _________________ "This is a happy occasion, let's not bicker and argue about ooo killed ooo!" |

| I'm about 40 miles west of St. Louis. Today we're going in to the low 50s. Tomorrow night it's supposed to snow. Gotta love St. Louis weather. _________________ "Cat people are different to the extent that they generally are not conformists. How could they be with a cat running their lives?" - Anonymous |

| Ditto that, its still rain right now, but if the temp drops it will be a skating rink all the way home. They are thinking snow on top of that . . . kinda like a winter storm sandwhich. _________________ "This is a happy occasion, let's not bicker and argue about ooo killed ooo!" |

| It was 78 sweltering degrees here today! Saturday, they are calling for snow flurries. If you don't like the weather in Tennessee, stick around. It will change in a minute. _________________

| We missed most of the ice, but we got a little. Mostly snow though.
