Finally upgraded the old computer

So I've had massive computer failure the last two months which is why I haven't been around for a while. So yesterday I finally bit the bullet and upgraded. I got a Gigabyte Technology motherboard with built in NVDIA graphics card and sound. I also got an AMD 4800 Dual Core processor. So the new motherboard uses DDR2 and has four slots for ram so I got four 512meg sticks of DDR2 ram. I'm still running Windows XP cuz I figure Vista will be bug ridden for months if not years. The difference is very noticeable. I can run iTunes and surf the internet at the same time no problem! I went to a website that tells you how fast your system is and it said that with the Dual Core processer I'm running at 6.1Ghz! I just felt the need to nerd out a little. Anybody else working on there systems?

I just recently got Windows Vista and you are correct in your assertion that it is bug-riddled. For some reason, a couple weeks ago it decided it didn't like the encryption method I was using on my wireless router. I had to find a forum where others were having the same problem. Apparently it's an intermittent bug.

And the worst part is that most of your old software won't work with it. My router discs didn't work nor did the setup discs from my ISP. Yeah, it sucks...

I was thinking about going for it and upgrading to Vista, but I've only heard negatives about it so far. Before I did the upgrade I was running an old Compaq that a friend gave me to get me by. It only had Windows 2000 and I thought I was in the dark ages! I'm surprised your computer even still works running Win95 Heath. Lol!

I recently upgrade my RAM from 512 to 2 gig. Makes a world of difference with playing my games! lol!

I tried to install a wireless card, but my comp locked up everytime I connected to the network. Still can't figure out why it does it every time (have installed and uninstalled it twice now).

We bought a new system a couple of months ago. Vista is not problem ridden at all. We've had it for 2 months now and its a terrific program.

We also have the Dual Core AMD processor, and 2 Gb of RAM. We're set for a long time.
