| I know this is something not every Christian agrees on, but I wanted to get opinions from you on drinking alcohol. I do know it is a sin to get drunk, but what about having a few drinks? This is an issue I tend to go back and forth on. |

| I believe that it is ok to have one or two drinks. So long as you dont try and test your limits. Once you test your limits youve already stepped over the line. |

| If you have an addictive personality, I'd stay far away from it. If not, then a few drinks in moderation, without getting drunk or driving buzzed, is perfectly fine. Jesus made wine after all. One could hardly argue that drinking alcohol is a sin when the Lord himself made some for guests at a wedding. My (fundamentalist) mother always used to answer me when I was kid and would bring this up with "well, the wine back then wasn't alcoholic like it is today!" I still roll my eyes when I hear such lame logic. If you enjoy a beer, wine, scotch or whiskey from time to time, and don't get drunk on it, you're fine. |

| All very good advice and reasoning. _________________ I don't have time for all if it, so I pick my battles. | Points: 1. Hey Musclecar.......the first four posts after your initial, thread starting post, are each right on IMO. I agree with all that they say. They would be my opinion in a nutshell. 2. Personally......I only drink dark, rich, imported German beers. I love the taste of them. 3. That said......I only get to drink a bottle or two......a handful of times each year when my wife is out of town. Seriously......I can count on one hand (and usually still have fingers left after doing it) the number of times I drink in a year. My wife is an alcoholic and I don't drink out of respect to her. _________________ "The 'farce' is strong with Sith Lord Obama-Wan." words of Scourge.

I just wanted to say that I think that's cool of you GW. I too love dark, German beers but thankfully, the cats couldn't care less what I'm drinking so I can enjoy them whenever I like. _________________ "The banner of loud and rebellious music will never die. It just gets older." - GODSWIZARD

| I drink, I smoke, i can't judge. its not best to do either but its not a sin to do both. I personally only drink when i have the money and usually at the end of the week. _________________ this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Hey there, Godswizard! I'm sorry to hear about your wife being an alcoholic problem. My dad is an alcoholic as well, so it came as no surprise that as an adult I did have problems with drinking, i.e. partying until I blacked out. And I partied every weekend at the Rainbow Bar and Grill.
Once I got saved, for the most part I stayed away from drinking for the first three years because of the issues I had with alcohol. After that, every now and then I'd have a few beers, though not the rich imported German ones, lol!
So I have been on one extreme to the other as far as this thinking goes. I know that I should not get drunk and do not like to (as opposed to how I loved to get drunk in my BC days), but to be honest I do enjoy the buzz that a few drinks can give me.
I plan on going to see Ratt/Extreme later this month and am debating if I should have a few drinks or skip it. |

| I'll drink when it's right. There is absolutely nothing in the Bible that speaks against alcohol. Don't get drunk and don't put it between you and God. That's about the only thing. I'm 19, and proud to say never sipped anything, which is amazing since I experienced an entire year of a state college. So I don't have much to contribute when it comes to alcohol. When 21 comes round, I'll probably drink those dark European brews. American beers or more appropriately named "Frat Boy Urine" smell awful to me, and probably taste awful too. _________________ "When I get hold of the big bad wolf I just push him under to drown Then I bite him in a million bits And I gobble him right down"

| Good on ya Musclecar! I respect everything you say there. I'll add to that debate and say I would definately have a few drinks out for a cool gig like that Long as it doesn't turn into a 3 day bender then no worries mate |

| BAH! ...don't have a problem with drinking, m'self...I don't do it, but it has more to do with not developing a taste for alcohol...never been drunk, or even tipsy, but again that's a personal thing for me...you could probably count all the alcoholic beverages I've had in a year on one hand... ...that said, anything that's overindulged in is a bad thing, physically, spiritually and intellectually speaking: | 1 Corinthians 6:12 wrote: | "Everything is permissible for me"—but not everything is beneficial. | I love beer. Period. Can't imagine my life without it. But nothing else, just beer. And I love lots of it. Of course I don't like to get drunk, so I'll have lighter stuff then...anyway, if there's a possibility to sit down with some friends and chill out, listening some great....how it was...hard rock/heavy music/metal , I always will have some beer too. Thank God I don't have to buy any imported German stuff (which is tasty, of course), because Estonian brew is absolutely fine. You just have to check it out |

| One thing no one seems to have mentioned so far: Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, so don't put anything in your body that will harm your body, which is the Lord's temple. Now as to what will harm your body, I will leave that to your best judgement, or if in doubt ask your doctor._________________ YOU MUST RESIST!!!
