Want to know what I'll be going to the theater to see?

1. Iron Man - May 2
2. Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - May 16
3. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - May 22
4. The Incredible Hulk - June 13
5. The Dark Knight - July 18
6. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - Aug. 1

My favorite of these is probably going to be "The Dark Knight"--the latest in the ongoing Batman films. It's Batman....I HAVE to see this.

My second favorite is probably going to be Iron Man. If the movie is as good as the trailer makes it seem, then I am in for a great superhero action film.

What are you looking forward to seeing?

They've been planning the third Mummy for a while. They got busy with The Scorpion King and then let the franchise falter as the stars got involved with artier and more serious pictures (including Rachel Weisz' Oscar win). Things finally started hammering together, except... well. I just don't have much hope, and here's why:

1. Rachel Weisz? Replaced by Maria Bello, who's a decent actress, but doesn't really carry the charm that Rachel did.

2. Arnold Vosloo? Replaced by Jet "Seriously, I'm Retiring This Time" Li.

3. Oded Fehr? Gone.

4. Director Stephen Sommers? Replaced by Rob Cohen, who gave us "Dragonheart", "Stealth", and "XXX".

As for good movies this summer... here's my plan (or was my plan before we bought the wife's new car):

May 2: Iron Man
May 9: Speed Racer
May 16: Prince Caspian
May 22: IJATKOTCS
Jun 13: The Incredible Hulk / M. Night Shayamalan's The Happening
Jun 27: Wall*e / Wanted
Jul 2: Hancock
Jul 11: Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
Jul 18: The Dark Knight
Jul 25: Step Brothers
Aug 8: The Pineapple Express
Aug 15: The International / Star Wars: The Clone Wars / Tropic Thunder
Aug 29: Babylon AD / Traitor

After that, there's just not that much I care about until Nov 7's "Quantum of Solace".

Well, considering that they are digging up a Chinese mummy this time, you can't expect those guys to be in the flick. Seriously, why would an Egyptian mummy be a threat in China? New story--new villian. Makes sense to me, anyway.

Not having Rachel Weizz could be a bit difficult, but I am willing to give it a chance seeing that I loved the other two. I hated "The Scorpion King" movie, though.

Oh, "Scorpion King" sucked, to be sure. But I always felt that the best parts of the Mummy movies were the characters played by Weisz, Vosloo, and Fehr. Oh sure, Fraser's mildly entertaining and whoever plays Jonathan's good for a slapstick laugh or two, but the real charm of it all lay in those three characters who brought a sense of fun, menace, and strength to the first 2.

Which begs the question....is there such a thing as a Chinese mummy? Shocked

My history is probably way rusty...but I don't think so. I don't see how switching countries at all in this film is a good move.

That'd be Star Trek XI. It's called "Star Trek", and it's not a Prequel in the usual sense - it's a "re-imagining", which is a fancy way of saying "starting over from scratch, kinda.

And in more bad news for you, it's not December anymore. It's May 2009.

Well, there aren't just Chinese mummies, but there are Chinese Pyramids, which is a pretty cool concept. But having thought about it, I think I've figured out why the Third Mummy movie has been moved to China and its release date has been set to August.

I'll give you a hint: What's taking place in Beijing in August?

All I can say is there are more movies I want to see than have cash to see it with.

Those first 6 from Aldat are my tops picks though, we'll see. Fortunately I have a wife and kid who love the same movies so we can break the bank together.

My wife only wants to see two of these. So, I'll probably go see all six and will hit the matinee during the daytime when she's working and I'm off.

I'm such the cheapskate. But, it opens up more funds for CDs.

94% of the critics' reviews posted on Rotten Tomatoes were positive. That's impressive! It's good to see that many said it's the best comic book movie since either Spider-Man 2 or Batman Begins. Apparently, there's some cool bonus material AFTER the credits.

Iron Man is such an interesting character. He was practically made for the silver screen. There will be 3 movies. The sequel will further develop Jim Rhodes and introduce his War Machine armor.

Yep. Very good movie. Better than some of the other stuff marvel's put out, for sure. I hope the trend continues.

I won't say what the bonus was (not that it's very hard to guess). But it does have some bearing on future Marvel movies.

To expand on my review of the movie in the post before this one...I didn't really care for Terrence Howard as Jim Rhodes. I didn't think it was a great fit. He did okay, though.
