PostSubject: Two prayer requests   Thu Apr 30, 2009 7:54 am

Please pray for a lady in my church who has a neurological disorder. She's going through some tests this week so the doctors know what to do with her. She's evidently had a stroke in the past (at a relatively young age), so this is something we're concerned about, especially given the fact she's a single mom. Please lift her up for healing as we have.

Also, I need a prayer for wisdom regarding a certain situation.

Turns out her test are on the 11th. Please be in prayer for her.

Also pray for a family that our ministry is reaching out to. The husband of this family has been in the hospital for some serious health issues.

I know my ability with details leaves something to be desired, but please lift up these individuals.

Okay, overdue update:

Her tests reveal that her problem isn't tumor-related, which is good considering the neurological nature of this disorder. Keep her in your prayers, however, as she'll be going through a battery of treatment for her problem.

Please keep the other family in your prayers as, evidently, his health has gotten a little worse.

Names of those involved: Angie (neurological disorder), Rick and Jerilyn Childs (the family).

Rick appears to have made a very good turn, all things considered. Apparently, his levels are normative giving his health issues (tumors, I believe). Still keep them in your prayers as they have some needs that need meeting. Our church is going to do what we can to help them as far as helping them move.

Rick took a bit of a turn today. He's not in great shape. Please continue praying for him.

I've found out that Rick has Sepsis. Blood infection is bad news, but we have faith God can heal him. He'll most likely be moved to ICU, so pray that he will feel that God is with him and that God places his hand on him.

Rick's sepsis is cleared up and he seems to have made a significant turn for the better (putting on weight, doing little things for himself, etc).

Continue to pray for his recovery and for his wife, who also has a health concern but wishes to be able to care for her husband and does not want to do the surgery right away. Please pray for healing (continued and new) for the both of them.

PostSubject: Re: Two prayer requests   Mon Jun 15, 2009 3:48 pm

Be in continued prayer for the Childs' family. Ric is evidently in ICU fighting an infection on his abdomen.

Here's an email from my pastor for a little background on the situation and specifics of what to pray for:

Quote:
I hope this email finds you well. I don't write like this often so I hope you will indulge me.

I am writing to ask The Body to lift up a brother and sister in need. Ric Childs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer after 3-4 months of serious illness that included removing his gall bladder
and numerous other diagnosis. About 60+ days ago surgeons removed the
tumer from his pancreas and found that he was in late stage 1/early
stage 2 (the caught it early). Since that time Ric has needed to build
his strength so that he can undergo radiation and chemo treatments.
Each time Ric begins to heal he is transferred to a rehabilitaion
facility and each time his condition worsens due to poor care. The
first time he went to a facility he got sepsis (blood infection) from poor wound care and was transferred back to the hospital directly into intensive care.
The second time he was transferred to a rehab facility (different
facility) he got a major abdominal infection from poor/lack of care.
The latest incident was yesterday. Ric has been taken back to the
hospital and put directly into ICU. Ric's body cannot take much more.
Ric needs to get well enough to take radiation and chemo to ensure that
there are no more cancer cells.
I have talked with him extensively and he is secure in his salvation
but is growing weary of the journey. Ric has tried to keep a good sense of humor and a good Christian testimony through this process. He would love nothing more to be able to worship with The Body once again.

Ric's family (wife, children and grandchildren) are also weary from the
battle both physically, spiritually and emotionally. His wife
Jerilyn has some chronic issues with her back and cannot stand or sit
for long periods. Her doctor has placed on periods of bed rest but this keeps her from Ric's side and she is unable to tend to his care personally.

Richard and Jerilyn need the prayers of God's people. I have been asked what specifically we should pray for:

1. I ask you to pray for Ric's healing from the cancer, healing from the infections and healing from each procedure.
2. Pray for the care Ric is being given. He receives great care in the
hospital (St. Lukes) but not so good in the rehab facilities.
3. Pray that the hospital will keep him until after he is completely well and not transfer him again.
4. Pray that God will strengthen Jerilyn physically and emotionally.
This has been hard on her body as well and has been very difficult to
watch Ric change (he has lost over 100 lbs.)
5. Pray that God will continue to send His people to meet the needs of
this family. They have financial and physical needs as well as the
spiritual and emotional needs.

I know this is a long email but again, I don't write like this often.
Ric asked me a couple of weeks ago why we kept coming and checking on
him and doing for him. Why we reached out to him and his wife when
they are not members of our church. I told him we are members of the
same church, Christ's Church. We do what we do because Christ did what he did. I
have thougth and wondered many times over the last couple of months who
will 'be there' for me when I fall? I think about how blessed I am to
have the family, church and friends I have but what if I was like Ric
and Jerilyn. Away from home (they are originally from Texas), not
having a home church, feeling disconnected from everything. Would His
church step up anyway? I ask that you will take a few moments now to
pray for this family and then consider making them a matter of daily
prayer. Please pass this along to other prayer warriors as we are One Bread, One Body (1 Cor 10:17).

This family needs our help and care. Please pray.

Rick has been moved to an acute care center. His cancer count has skyrocketed and they're not giving him much time. Please be in continued prayer for him and redoubled pray for his wife and other family members
