I got a call while I was at work today from my brother. They had to rush my dad first to the Nashville VA Hospital and then on to Vanderbuilt. He has a brain aneurysm. Beyond that, we don't know much. Any and all prayers would be GREATLY appreciated. _________________ "I have no desire to speak w/other tongues, I already do enough damage w/the one I have!!" - Candlemass

Daddy's going to be in the hospital for some time. They are supposed to try an angiogram sometime today and see if they can relieve that aneurysm. If they cannot, then that will probably mean brain surgery. If they go that route, it will be a long road to recovery. _________________ "I have no desire to speak w/other tongues, I already do enough damage w/the one I have!!" - Candlemass

When I hear something, I'll let you guys know. I have my laptop here at the hospital to help pass the time. I can jump on their free wi-fi anytime. I've talked to one of daddy's doctors and they are not sure that he has an aneurysm. We're still waiting for the results from a 2nd CT scan. They know he has had some bleeding on the brain. But, that could simply be a small aneurysm that popped a vessel. If it is, then daddy could be back at home in a couple of days. That's a best case scenario. If he does have an aneurysm, they will try to correct it by doing an angiogram and putting a small coil into the vessels around the brain to close the area and prevent that air from moving. If they cannot, then they would do brain surgery. That's a worst case scenario. But, seeing that daddy is alert and has not had any pain meds since about 2 AM, I'm praying for the best case. I serve a God much bigger than any brain problems. He's got this, and I'm pretty peaceful right now. I know that things can happen, but God is still in control no matter what. I'm just going to hold on to Him. _________________ "I have no desire to speak w/other tongues, I already do enough damage w/the one I have!!" - Candlemass

Daddy is resting after having his angiogram. One of the arteries in his neck is totally closed off. Since he is not getting enough blood to the brain (and hasn't for years), his body has rerouted blood through some new veins. He has one tiny vein in his forehead that is supplying all the blood to the right front part of the brain. There is a TON of pressure there, and that is what caused the aneurysm. The aneurysm is small, and they cannot put a stint in it to pinch it off. They are going to have to change some of his meds around so that his body can clot this leak itself. Right now, there could be a couple of surgical options on the table, but we don't know anything for sure. It's still up in the air for now. _________________ "I have no desire to speak w/other tongues, I already do enough damage w/the one I have!!" - Candlemass

The doctors have made up their minds. They are going to do surgery on Tuesday. They are going to open him up and go in and clamp off the aneurysm. It's a major risk, but there is too great a chance of this breaking loose again to let it go. _________________ "I have no desire to speak w/other tongues, I already do enough damage w/the one I have!!" - Candlemass

I was really upset yesterday, but I took a little "walk-a-bout" and ended up in the chapel here at Vandy alone. I was reading Psalm 93 where David writes that God is bigger than the raging seas. Well, life is a raging sea with this situation. I felt that God was telling me that He is bigger than this situation. I've felt a lot better about this since finding that passage again. Daddy is in great spirits this morning. He ate a very big breakfast, and they are going to let him get out of bed for a while today. He is going to have surgery Tuesday, but he is in INCREDIBLY good condition considering having an aneurysm. One of his doctors told me that 3 out of 5 patients die before they get to the hospital. Of the remaining 2, one of them never makes it to any form of surgery. So, daddy is ahead of the curve, in a great mind about the procedure, and has been reminded numerous times by me and some of the staff that God is in control of this. _________________ "I have no desire to speak w/other tongues, I already do enough damage w/the one I have!!" - Candlemass
