After 18 days at Vandy, my dad will move to the VA Hospital today for physical therapy. He wasn't happy about it at first, but he is more than ready to go anywhere but where he is now.

yeah, what L8T said ^

I'm praying based on what you described of your relationshipp with your dad that he really recognizes how much his son loves him and also how much the Creator loves him. Wink

My dad has come a long way. He is in therapy now at the VA Hospital and is walking some with a walker. He's got a way to go to get all his strength back. He's been hospitalized now for over a month.

The doctors had set a date for daddy's release.
They were planning on letting him be discharged this coming Thursday.
However, after his therapy this past Friday, they decided to move that
up to tomorrow. After over 30 days in the hospital, my dad is going
home!

I got my dad home Monday and he stayed by himself that night. He was able, with my sister to pick him up at home, to come to my brother's wedding last night. So, my dad walked the bride down the aisle! It was so cool!

I was also involved in the wedding. I performed the ceremony.

For a few of my brother's friends, we hooked up a webcam and showed the service online.

PostSubject: Re: Prayers for my dad   Tue Oct 13, 2009 7:29 am

We've had a rough weekend with him. He's showing signs of another stroke, which is what the doctors finally decided he had. His right side just stops working, his thoughts are very random, and he has lost bowel control. He fell over the weekend and laid in the floor for hours before he could call someone for help--even though he had his cell phone in his pocket. Right now, he is staying with my sister so that he can be watched more closely.

We had to take him to the ER on Saturday due to all the different things going on. He was badly dehydrated. They said that could cause the stroke type symptoms. But, they sent him home from the blessed VA. Crappy government healthcare!

But, his home healthcare nurse came yesterday--after being out of the hospital for over a week. It took the VA that long to get the paperwork done! She looked over his meds. He was taking double the amount of one med and 4 times the amount of blood pressure meds he needed. No one knew that his dosages had been changed! So, the nurse said that these could have been what was causing the stroke symptoms due to his blood pressure bottoming out! We got the new meds filled last night. I am hoping for a quick turnaround! However, since I have been out of work for two weeks due to the schools being out (weird block scheduling), I have to go back next week. If we are still having to watch Daddy 24/7, then a state-funded nursing home will be our only option due to lack of funds. I hate to do it to him, but that may be the only way to do this.
