Vocal Issues

We have a gig this Friday and I feel a cold or something coming on. Bit of a sore throat, any advice?

Lay off anything with caffeine. Gotta drink more water.

If you're having some sinus issues to cause that sore throat, a mild decongestant will help without making your voice weak. Some cold medicines will really mess with you in that area.

When I was doing community theater a few years back, we bought this stuff at Wal-Greens called Entertainers Secret. You just spray your throat with it between songs (or in our case then, scenes) to remoisturize your vocal chords. It works wonders. I'd highly recommend it, and it will also leave you with minty, fresh breath!

Lemon juice, and lots of it. I get the green bottles on the straight stuff and just take a swig or two before the songs, or whenever you can. It works great for me.

I highly recommend Emergen-C for cutting sore throats/colds off at the pass.
