Its a 1994 Washburn Chigago Custom Shop MG-122. I own 8 of these USA Washburn Chigago Custom shop guitars. This one is a surprise it's got to be a late prototype or one of the First of this series made. I own 4 1995 MG's including a Purple MG 122 like this one and this one is MUCH different from the others.
I also own a 1994 LS-93 Silverado and one of the handbuilt Prototypes for the MG 122. The neck on this one is chunkier that the 95's and has a C profile unlike the D on the Production MG's. The neck on this one is allmost identical in profile to the neck on the prototype. the Frets are also HONKIN HUGE jumbos just like the Proto frets and much larger than the Dunlop 6105's on the rest of my MG's.
The color and paint type is also noticably different than the rest of my MG's except the early 95 Orange Swamp Ash 102 I have. The color with this paint is MUCH more vibrant than the 95's paint color. The actual Red used is identical to the red used on the Silverado and the rear of the prototype on and much different than the Red used on the rear of my 95 MG120. The 95 MG 100,122 and 120 i have look duller on the color and less "vibrant"
I also have a Purple quilt "normal" 95 MG 122 and this one sounds noticably thicker, fatter and more powerfull. Both have Duncan JB's in the bridge and 59's in the necks but the red one just NUKED the Purple one in tone. I actually pulled the bridge pickup out and turned it over to see what it was as I couldn't believe a JB could be that fat and sweet. It wasn't the pickup but the guitar it's self though as the Red one is NOTICABLY more powerfull and fatter sounding played accoustically.
Bottom line this guitar is stunning to look at in person and sounds just as absolutely incredible. I don't know for sure what this one is or why it's SO different but it's realy a "special" guitar!
Check this bad boy out!!!
