How do you guys hold your picks?? Or does it differ depending on what exactly you are doing?? Thanks!

I think most people would probably say I hold it wrong, but I dunno. :p

For me it's more the pick I use that is different.

I use these exact ones, thick enough for enough power in heavy rhythmic palm muting (read: power-thrash :p ), but not too thick to limit faster tremelo type playing. Now if you turn this pick some degrees to the left, where it's turned the opposite way, except the little extended hook portion is to the left side, that's how I pick - with that extended portion, and the thumb is far up on it so it can move down quickly for easy pinch harmonics if needed. I like these picks because the size and shape appeals to my fingers better, and how the 'point' of it doesn't have to be in the middle, like I said it's flipped over and I use that long hook for picking, which is only on one side, and it's amazingly versatile.

I used to use that exact pick, but in the green .88mm tortex, OCI. and I used it just as you described. Less pick to "get in the way" when trem picking and switching strings in my riffage. The darn things were just "too big" for me to get used to the feel of, even though I played with them for over a year. I ended up going back to a standard tortex and sanding it down to a sharper point.

Then I found a store in my area that actually carries the Dunlop Tortex "Sharps", so I've switched to those...

I hold my pick really weird. I mean, I use a thumb and two finger to hold it lol.

I tried to play with picks but it doesn't really work that well on a snare.

ifbutforone's suggestion..although late in coming...ends up being what happened, as you who have played for a while might imagine.

I hold my pick between my first finger and thumb. My index finger is bent at about a 70 degree angle. I've always wondered if the way I play is considered weird lol.
