So, I had the family out and about Tuesday evening, checking out what sort of accessories we wanted to get for the Wii we bought Monday. We're heading down a street that we've been down a million times before, about to pass a pawnshop that I've always intended to go in, and I mention to the wife "I wonder if they have any musical stuff, or if they're just another low rent jewelry and tool type joint...", and she says "Well, we're here, why don't you just check it out."
I pull in the lot, hop out, and go inside. Sure enough, they have some (mostly low end) guitars and basses on the wall. mostly the typical "cheap junk" you find all over....the "high end" would have been a mid level Dean ML bolty from the late 90's. Nothing really aught my eye on fist glance, and I was ready to leave after about 2 minutes in the place. I'd been debating between one of Rondo's Rhoads V knockoffs or a Peavey halfstack, anyway for the last 2 months anyway....
So I turn to leave, and spy a "Jackson" logo that had somehow escaped my eye. Probably because I REALLY wasn't looking for a 25.5" scale superstrat. Then I notice the word "Professional" next to the Jackson logo.......
Long story short, about 10 minutes later, I ended up walking out with a Burgundy (don't kow what the "official" color is called) with my first Jackson, a 94 Professional Series Soloist XL, the price seems like it was a complete steal, even with the wear on it ....Out the door for $290 including tax and an SKB case....
a few smallish paint chips at the point end of the headstock, 1 ding on the body that ends up under where my hand/arm are, and VERY narrow gouge that's not thru the paint near the 5 way selector. it's also missing the trussrod cover (so I had trouble figuring out exactly WHAT I had other than a Japanese neckthru Jackson until I got home and hit up google....), the the bar socket in the floyd is cracked. However, I don't use trems anyway, and it LOOKS like that whole socket assembly can just be unscrewed and replaced (there's an allen screw on the underside of it?).....if not, it's no big deal, I'll end up putting a tremel-no in or blocking it anyway.....the singles are Jackson branded, but the bridge PU is a Seymour Duncan (no idea what model yet)...
