Alright, so I've had my Pod xt Live for quite a while now and I've played with tones and stuff, but I just can't seem to figure out how to get a good metal tone. I want it to be heavy but clear, and when I solo I want it to sound thick but smooth. Hard to do =\ I'm no tone expert but I can't download any tones because my usb port is screwed up, so I'm stuck with presets or starting from scratch and making my own. Anybody with any knowledge on the subject want to give me a hand?

My gear:

custom guitar - Dimarzio pick ups (only 1 pick up)

Amp - Carvin sx 200

I also have Metal Zone pedal with a compressor pedal =] and of course the pod.

My only experiance with Line 6 is the Flextone II HD. I loved it until I got a Carvin Legacy, now I never touch it. However, the Line 6 Insane setting is just that...INSANE! It gave me a great metal/hardcore/death metal tone. I have a buddy that has the unit you do and his metal tone is sick. I guess ya just gotta tweak it for awhile.
