I was just blessed with a really nice, used ESP strat... love everything about it... except for the fret board finish... Long story short------i have a vision problem, and so maple necks are best for me... I can "see the neck markers better and thus where I am on the neck better..." So... I want to "lighten" the wood on the neck on just the frets where the markers are... I.E. frets 3, 5, 7, 9, etc...

Does anyone have any advice on a best way to do this?

I know what you mean by the difference in the maple and rosewood necks. I was playing my Ibanez RG550 with maple for a few weeks straight then picked up my RGA121 with rosewood and I couldn't find my place on the neck. It was so weird. Never experianced that before.

How 'bout trying to find a maple neck on ebay for it?

I don't know. I've never had that issue.

My friend took glow in the dark paint and put a little dot on the top part of the neck at each neck marker so when he looked down he could tell where he was.......And because he used glow in the dark paint (Or nail polish) he could also see it in the dark and on stage when lights where low.

Get some florescent nail polish and dot the tip ends of the frets......

He may have used glow in the dark nailpolish.....Im not sure but it worked for him......I personally wouldnt paint any of my axes but bottom line for him was performance not how his stuff looked.
