I have a new song I wrote yesterday processing on my myspace page, so if you try to check it out and it's not there, wait a while and go back. This one is very classically influenced. No name yet.

Very nice life. Are you an Alex Lifeson fan....of Rush? The first few seconds reminded me of "Trees".

Hey, your other stuff is cool....who do you think influenced your song "A Day In Blue" ?

Malaguena.... yes...... I like this a lot. Very Happy

Classic, yet it shows your compositional skills very well. And your techincal skills are off the chart.... are you sure you're not 60? Shocked

OK, first of all, thanks a lot, I appreciate the feedback.

Late: yes I do like Rush, but I have not heard "Trees"

About A Day in Blue: As for my influence, Randy Lepper, my former guitar teacher got me into blues. Before I took lessons I had heard very little blues and hadn't bothered to appreciate the genre. I don't really have a favorite blues guitarist, but Randy's was SRV, so I guess through Randy SRV influenced me a lot. I can't really say for sure. But I love to play blues jams like that, both electric and acoustic.

As for the song its self, I have been VERY surprised at the positive remarks it has received. I recorded all those songs and a few others that aren't on there for a cd to sell so I could put more money toward the V in my avatar. It did not sell well, probably mostly due to a lack of advertising. I'm currently trying to sell some more to get money for a new amp (shameless plug Very Happy ).
Anyway, I was recording a bunch of songs all at once and since I like to play blues I pulled out the oldest rhythm in the book and did 2 improvised lead tracks. That's it. It was a filler song. I was trying to make the cd long enough to justify the $5 price tag.

All of the leads were mostly or completely improv. I usually listen and do improv over the rhythm track 2 or 3 times and pick out stuff I like. Then, with that skeleton, I record the lead and fill in the meat. But on A day in blue I just went. If I remember correctly there were no retakes. But that is probably my least favorite song on the cd.

Well, knowing your affinity for nylon strings, I recommend:

"A Farewell To Kings" and "The Trees".

I think you will like them.
