My Alesis DM-5 had channels that were dead. Had it not been for having extra channels you could use, it would have rendered itself useless. Also, on my Hart kit, the cheap plastic body of every drum was busting on the bottom. There was no metal reinforcement anywhere. A couple of the pads, due to cracking, were mistriggering.

So, they HAD to go!

What really drives me crazy is that I also have an incredible Tama Rockstar kit (black, the same as Lars plays), but I'm not set up to record with it... Sad

FYI, we went ahead and got the Roland set. Very nice and the rep gave us a great deal. $1100 including 2 year protection, threw in a throne, bass kick, and a a few pairs of sticks. Now to put the silly thing together.

Thanks Aldat . . . just wanted to know if we were in the right ballpark.
