Hi Angel, welcome aboard.

I'm not much of a keyboard player (guitar is my main instrument), but I do use one in my home studio. I have a Korg X50 that I basically run through a mixer and a Presonus Firepod into my computer, where I do my recording. I haven't gotten too much use out of it so far. I've only had it for about 3 months.

Casio wk-3000. I run it through a small mixer. Good stuff for 300$.

My set up is so old and in such disrepair that there's really not much to talk about. When I play out, I have to either use the house keyboard, or one of the other band members has to bring one for me to use.

My main keyboard at home is the JD-800 (from 1990), but it's currently inoperative, just like most of my other equipment.

Surprisingly, my Casio CT-630 (from 1986) still works great, and I will occasionally pull this one out if I need to rehearse some material at home.

I also play (almost every weekend) at a local Assisted Living Community, on their in-house acoutic piano.

Here's something I recorded with some friends earlier this year, if you'd like to have a listen.

MIDNIGHT MINUETTO
http://www.rise-to-the-rescue.com/midnight-minuetto-mp3.mp3

My keyboard died half-way through the recording, and so I had to improvise by using the midi software on my computer to replicate some of the keyboard parts that I was hearing in my head.

How funny! I came here looking for exactly this topic. I was wondering how many others here are into keyboards. As for me, I am a novice keyboardist, but am learning fast (despite my hectic life schedule).

Anyway, I am currently cutting my teeth on a Roland XP-60, which was a lovely little workstation back in the day.

I am going to buy a Korg TR88 very soon though! Very Happy

Aaaahhh! Yeah I've been playing piano for over half my life...but my life has been short so far so it's really not so long. I'm trying to buy myself a really nice keyboard here but the act of keyboard shopping has been hard to accomplish. Every music store I've gone to so far has just really basic keyboards...or they're not portable or full-length weighted. I find it really hard to play the ones with springs in them. Nice to know that other people out there are into keyboards because it took me a while to find a band that actually wanted a keyboard player. So sad, because it adds so much...

I play a Korg x-50 in Skyliner and a microkorg synth. We've also got an out of tune Baldwin upright in the living room leftover from phase 2 of lessons. Weird instrument for me that has gone through three phases of lessons and dedication. The latest occurred in 2007 when I wanted to do something different and started re-dedicating my focus on keyboard to join Skyliner...after about 2 years of not seriously playing it. I do alright though, for an undisciplined shmoe. Cool

I just wish I had another korg so I could make smoother transitions. BTW, check the thread I posted in here. Very Happy

anyways.. i didnt actually answer the topic question. lol..

i did say i used a Yamaha DGX-500. I think i bought it in 2005. And right after i got it.. they upgraded it . oh well. So this keyboard has like a 5 track recorder, and u can save you compositions on floppy disk with the built in floppy drive.

Who uses floppy disks anymore? LOL thats why they upgraded it to a usb port or smart card drive.. cant remember. anyways.. i do have an 8 track digital recorder, but my set up is. when i record a song on the keyboard,, i transfer it to my laptop thru some hardware device. at this moment i cannot think of the name of that hardware hookup. haha.

But the program on my laptop records the song from the keyboard onto its hard disk. so its good clear sound. simple. Then i either burn it to a cd or transfer to my pc and upload it to the net.. again.. the results are at my music myspace . link below.

I actually answered a pm about this.

We're going...a bit of a lull without a bass player, but we're used to that. Fortunately we're getting enough good response from the recording for people to actually miss us. lol!

Anyway, back to the thread. How do you like the Juno, pandemic? I've toyed around with it a bit, but had a lot of trouble figuring out some of the controls.

Well I have yet to really get into playing around with the Juno but I am blown away by the stock sounds.......It has the Fantom x processer so it has really nice presets but from what I have heard and read this thing is a awesome workstation and has stellar top notch sounds but a little complicated to work with. I paid $600 for a used one and the guy spent about an hour with me answering questions and hanging out........Funny thing is, we have been emailing back and forth and he and I are gonna jam sometime. Musically we match in many places. He is a classicly trained piano teacher that is into a bunch of bands that I am. He is gonna help me learn more about programing it, midi, and using it as a synth and hopfully we jam out and conect music wise. I got it to just ad some layers to my recordings but would love to have some keys played as well.

Oh yes you need to find a bass player....Im in Gainesville so you are withing driving distance to check out a gig.....so hurry Very Happy

Hit us up at myspace and check their regularly.

And hit me up with a "For Dummies" version of the programming stuff. The x-50 is a good little workstation, but I have zero knowledge of that sort of thing...which is a disservice to the full potential of the instrument.
