I'm a pretty good rhythm guitarist who plays a little lead. But, that was just painful to be honest. I'm sure that the kid will improve with time. Now is not that time.

rhythm and lead, rhythm and lead.

If you can't play both well. that means you can't really play guitar. "Leads" are just notes from the chords are a strumming in your "rhythm".. higher up on the fret board.

Sorry, it's just a pet peeve of mine.. that people should just learn basic theory and memorize their scales before saying they can play guitar or any instrument.

Sorry I'm a nazi on the matter...haha, just move on.. Arrow

I know scales--I am just to lazy to practice regularly. I'm comfortable with what I play. Besides, you have to remember that I am a bass player that decided to pick up guitar for writing/recording purposes. I also play completely by ear and figured out a lot of scales on my own. Theory will come just by listening and mimicking. There are a lot of great musicians out there who never "studied theory". They just started bangin' away on their guitars or whatever until it sounded good.

Besides, with the music you mostly post about, you don't even need to be a musician. All you need for that electronic stuff is a computer and recording software.
