| It's really, really bad! I know that's just my opinion, but I can't get into this disc at all. I've tried, really, I have, it's just plain garbage. _________________ But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. | There are a few good songs on it. Hero of the Day is one of their best songs, IMO. |

| IMO, it was not horrible, it just was. A few good songs on it. | Quote: | | It really did become a thing of, everybody copy and paste the cool thing to say about Metallica, which is, Load sucks, Master of Puppets is the best, blah blah blah. |
I concur with this sentiment. Rabid Metallifanz couldn't handle not getting what they grew to expect and want...
It drove me absolutely crazy at the time. Get over it! Like some other bands or something.
Bwhahhaha...what's hilarious here ...it's those same people who have taken all their Metallica to the used record store in droves. Lame. _________________ only symbols can be twisted ,burned, spat on etc.NOTHING truly Holy can be desecrated..... - Sabbath Steve

| It would've been ignored and put straight into the cutout bin if it didn't have the name "Metallica" stamped on the front. |

| RABID METALLIFANZ sounds like a lousy Seattle hardcore band. _________________ "The 'farce' is strong with Sith Lord Obama-Wan." words of Scourge.

| Not sure. I listened to it one time, and sold it 10 years later. | I have always liked the new megadeth stuff, but never could really get into anything newer produced by Metallica, it sounds just way TOO commercial to me. |

| Good point. Even Megadeth's low points still had some great guitarwork on them. Its like they werent as heavy but still the musicianship was always topnotch. Were the stuff from Load and ReLoad sounded lazy to my ears. |

| mmm. There were some good moments on Load and Reload. But overall they were just ok albums for me. I think Metallica peaked on And Justice for All. |

| AAANNNNNNNDDD I revive this thread! In my opinion, NO it is NOT bad at all. Believe it or not, that was the first metal/rock (whatever you want to call it) album I had ever bought. yes you heard me right. When I got into Metallica, the first albums I bought were Load, Reload, Metallica, and Garage Inc. and just by having those 4 albums I thought that "was" Metallica. I had NO IDEA they had a previous sound. I was already in love with them with just those albums and then I finally got Ride The Lightning and was hooked even more. Upon hearing Fight Fire With Fire I was like " This is the same band?????!!!!!!"_________________ Matthew 5:43-48 John 3:16 Romans 10:9 & 13, 13:8 1 John 3:21-24 Revelation 22:20-21 www.myspace.com/fullyjustifiedband"My house! my house! my house! Not exactly. There IS the loss of a driving musical force and the intervening 13 odd years of personal growth and maturity to be accounted for....
I'll stand by my assesment from a few years qgo...if they'd cut the filler and tightened up the excess flab from this era, they could have produced one single, stellar album that might just be the most crushingly heavy thing they've ever done. Sure, it doesnt' have the ears pinned back ferocity of the earlier stuff, but the early sense doesn't have the same sense of crushing groove they were working in by this point, either. This isn't a "rock" album...it's a METAL album. Just not the type of metal people were expecting. The "Load was Metallica's "hard rock" phase" stuff stems FAR more from their appearance than the material on the album........ _________________ Obama is no more the Anti-Christ than George Bush is Sauron, sending his armies into Iraq searching for the One Ring.....

| Thanks for reviving this thread metaller4christ. It gives me a chance to sum up my feelings towards this steaming load... And I quote Temple Of Blood from 2007.... "It was that bad." Yes mate. Yes it was... _________________ "We all like what we like; no condemnation here just because our likes might have some differences" - tohostudios

| | WildWorld wrote: | | In retrospect, was Metallica's Load really a bad album? Metalheads everywhere claimed it was metallica "selling out" and you heard comments like "alternica", "metallicrap", and even "countrytallica (because of mama said)". But looking back, it wasnt really all that bad, the first half of the album is great, and the second half, though it has filler, has some hidden gems as well like "cure", "ronnie" (one of their most underrated songs IMO), and "the outlaw torn". Heck, i even like "mama said" (though it was out of place and should have been saved for a b-side). Anyone else agree with me? (OTOH, Reload wasnt all that great, and hasnt held up that well, save for a few songs) |
Load IMO is the only decent Metallica album made its the only album where i can listen from start to finish |
