Some of us who have been in email contact with him recently have recieved some correspondences between he and this guy named Anders who writes for a Christian newspaper in Sweden and contacted Roger about doing an interview. This is very out of character for the Rog to accept such an offer (he formerly said he wouldn't do any interviews with Christians until the body of christ paid him the 300,000 they owe him) but when and if this thing comes out, it's going to be highly entertaining and full of controversy. Roger makes a lot of claims about Vengeance and their members. Unfortunately he has made a some false claims and mixed it with some truth. As such, it's hard to know what to believe from him. I've heard the various stories from all ends of the spectrum.

I'm actually surprised most people still care about this crap two decades later. It's over, it's done...get on with life already.

If it is published (that is on Anders) then it will be put in the publication that I posted a link to. An english translation would most likely then be made available, courtesy of Roger.

I don't care for Roger's views and I hate his vocals (some of the worst vox I have ever heard in metal). However, according to many reputable people Roger is indeed owed a lot of money from former VR members. Those guys screwed him over but good. I have no respect for people like that.

Not to say anything against GP's news - I do think that's interesting and I'd read the interview - but I got a bad feeling about this thread. A rilla bahd feelin', I say...

Like Ult says who cares anymore.The guy is just trying to hold onto any ounce of popularity that Vengeance may have gave him.

And I have no respect for people who make comments like that without knowing all the facts.

Roger legally took on the debt of VR. End of story. Lawyers, contracts, it was all legal. Ethical? That may be another story, but Roger isn't owed anything by anyone. On the Once Dead DVD, the band is very clear. They should have just ended it when they wanted to end it. Play a few more shows, sell off the rest of the merchandise (of which there was a ton), possibly record and release one final album (to which many of the songs were already written), pay off the considerable debt they owed and put Vengeance Rising to rest. However, Roger did not want VR to end and volunteered to take on the VR name. That included getting all the merchandise, all the future royalties, all the debt, all the rights, the recording contract with Frontline, etc. He wanted it all and he got it all. When it didn't work out for him financially and the debt overtook him, he then started blaming others.

The fact is, Doug, Roger Dale, Larry and Glen are all good guys. They have nothing but good things to say about Roger, despite how he's treated them over the years. They don't seem to resent him at all. They are human and have certainly all done their fair share of screwing up over the years. Just ask them, they will all be the first to admit it. However, the whole Roger Rising situation is a bunch of crap. If he truly had legal ground to anything he would have already been in court.

Roger Martinez has given people plenty of reason to doubt his character over the years. Doug Theime, Roger Dale, Larry Farkas and Glen Mancaruso have not.

why doesn't this surprise me. If Christians are screwing someone out of money, it must be true. Always the victim. There are a bazillion sides to this story.

The guy that used to run "The Christian Metal Resource Center" (the original owner) had all the information, court documents and everything. He had dozens of eyewitness reports of what happened and how it went down. The information was all confirmed by Bob Beeman and many others who were there. The former members of VR were not truthful whatsoever. As you said, maybe what they pulled was legal but certainly not ethical.

On the other hand, nobody forced Roger to sign the papers making him sole owner of the whole VR circus...he did that on his own.

I'm wondering where the unethical part is. Roger knowingly took on what was left of VR. He was a grown man and nobody forced him or even tricked him.
