Rob Halford has done an execellent job with his new cd "Winter Songs." It rocks. He has done some amazing covers of traditional carols like We Three Kings, Oh Come, Oh Come Emanuel, What Child is This and Oh Holy Night. He definitely stayed with mostly sacred carols. There's really no Rudolph or Santa songs on this cd. There are a couple of what you could call "fun" ones. But he kept the album pretty sacred throughout. This is probably going to be one of my favorite Christmas albums from now on.

| Just listening to the samples on Amazon - specially the traditional carols - gave me goosebumps and made my body pucker! Would be AWESOME(!) to hear Rob belting these songs out in front of God's throne! _________________ Forever stronger than all....through Him!

What on earth? That almost sounds...wrong!
Concerning the album...WHOA!! Sounds awesome! Heard the clips on Amazon.com...I'm gonna have to get this for sure.
I listened to the clips out of order, so I heard Get Into The Spirit after several of the others, and man, that song BLISTERS. Lots of the others are heavy, too...it's definitely NOT a typical, super-mellow Christmas album, for sure. 'I Don't Care' could be a Priest song. The heavy riffing put to some of the others is killer, too, whereas the mellow ones are very appropriate. A very well-balanced disc. _________________ _________________

This is a most un-Halford-like album. Lots of quieter songs, and even a few songs that are just 'rock' as opposed to the hard rock/heavy metal he's best known for. He penned a couple of the songs here such as I Don't Care and the astounding Light of the World, a song that espouses a love for the Savior. Rob seems to be returning to his spiritual roots alright. Also, I have to say, hearing We Three Kings done with double bass drumming is AWESOME!!!! I Don't Care has a Great White feel to it. Musically, the best songs are probably Get Into The Spirit, We Three Kings, I Don't Care and Oh Holy Night. The entire disc is pretty solid, though I could do without Christmas for Everyone. Its just kinda there. The rest is terrific.

I'm not a fan of Judas Priest or Halford but he did surprise me by doing a cover of "Here I Am To Worship ("Light of the World on the cd). That kind of came out of far left field

That's not what "Light of the World" is. It is an original song written by Rob Halford himself. I looked more at the lyrics and they are of the "could be about God or my girlfriend" kind of thing (think: Stryper's Honestly). I think of it about God and I found it a great song!!

In the context of the entire album, it is obviously about God.

Unless he changed it, the lyrics to Light of the World is the exact same as Here I Am to Worship which is written by Chris Tomlin. Heres the lyrics posted on an earlier post: Light of the world you step down into darkness Opened my eyes let me see Beauty that makes this heart adore You Hope of a life spent with You So here I am to worship Here I am to bow down Here I am to say that your my God Your altogether lovely Altogether worthy Altogether wonderful to me King of all days Oh so highly exalted Glourious in Heaven above Humbly You came to the earth you created All for loves sake became poor So here I am to worship Here I am to bow down Here I am to say that your my God Your altoghether lovely Altoghether worthy Altogether wonderful to me I'll never know how much it cost to see my sin apon that cross I'll never know how much it cost to see my sin apon that cross

This is a great CD! I have been listening daily to it for almost a week now and it is terrific! Even the songs that didn't grab me at first have turned out to be quite enjoyable to me now. I highly recommend this to fans of metal and Christmas music!
