I have been listening to Operation: Mindcrime daily for about 2 weeks now. I had this album back in the day, and liked it then; but I got rid of it because I thought it slammed my faith. I recently heard more from the band about the storyline and the intent of the record, and decided to get it again. HOLY SMOKE! This is going to easily be one of my top 5 albums of all time. I can't believe people like The Warning more than this masterpiece. This blows The Warning away!

Geoff Tate's voice on this thing gives me chills when its layered on some of the bigger chorus hooks such as I Don't Believe In Love, Revolution Calling, Breaking The Silence and Eyes of a Stranger. The guitar work is outstanding. The songs have some progressive tendencies, but stay more on the melodic, accessible side of things.

I don't know if its the remastering or if the original recording had this too, but the production and sound quality on this thing are darn near perfect. I'd be interested in hearing the original version vs. the remastered version I bought.

The live tracks added as bonus tracks are boring and I will probably never listen to them again. I'm not a big fan of live recordings anyway, and the album versions of the two live songs absolute crush the live versions.

It's really a shame that they left this sound and style behind. I would love to have heard more from them in this style. Ah well, at least I have this one.

I'm not excited to get Rage for Order because I suspect they will not be able to top O:M.

Yeah, you seem sold on your favorite.

Mindcrime is a masterpiece. I also feel the same way about the other two. It's not a matter of preferring one over the other for me, but appreciating each for what they represent to Queensryche. Mindcrime is their best achievement though.

MINDCRIME is their best album in my opinion!

It is considered one of the greatest concept albums of all time.

Some say they stole ideas from Floyd... I never liked Floyd.

That era of Geoff Tate is hard to beat!

RIP good era of Queensryche. We hardly knew thee.

Queensryche fan here. I have their self-titled EP, Rage For Order and Operation: Mindcrime. I think out of the three, "Rage" is my favorite. I kinda started to lose interest in them after Empire came out, so I can't comment on their newer stuff. I still wouldn't mind seeing them live, one day.

The first three full-lengths are all classics in their own right. Quite frankly, The Warning and Mindcrime are the strongest of the three, and only because there is a weak pop cover on RFO.

The Warning is a classic example of American-styled power metal (patterned after the big British groups). Mindcrime is the band in ultimate creative potential while still having some of the spirit of the older albums. I don't necessarily like what followed right after, but there is some good stuff.

Clearly, you already like Mindcrime, so just hang in there on The Warning. It's quite a staple in my collection.

Well said. RFO has the beginnings of experimentation on it, but The Warning is just straightforward power metal. And good stuff at that!
