One of the few metalcore bands I can handle, they do it well and can really play. So the new one is much more melodic then their past stuff and i'm sure many will cry sell out but I like it. It's still heavy, the melody just adds to it and it's still KSE's base sound.

So there's less screaming and more singing? I hope so.

Yes and no. You'll have to listen.

I think its good. Definitely more....ummm....melodic??? I'm not sure if that's the word. Maybe more accessible?

It's a touch more melodic, but mostly, to my ears, that is because they've brought the guitar lines a touch more to the forefront in the mix. Theres a bit more emphasis on Howard's clean singing, as far as I can tell. Those are the only real differences between this one and the previous two. It's pretty much "par for the course" compared with the last 2 discs.

Yep. I'm pretty much bored with them now. When Alive or Just Breathing came out, that was (and still is) an amazing album. Their second one had its moments, but now, they've become just kind of blah. You've heard one song or album, you've heard them all. They've got their formula and niche down pat, and it's become so formulaic that I lose interest now rather quickly.

thats a metalcore problem just like with SHadows Fall. i did like the change up to almost Guns and roses sound SF had on their last song from the "Fallout From the War" album.

I've heard about three tracks off this now. Loving it. The clean vocals are awesomely juxtaposed around the screams. God bless you, Mr. Jones!!!

Oh yeah...for all the prayer warriors out there, keep HJ and his family in your prayers. He had a death in the family this week. Sad

I listened to this a few times in a row last night at work.....it "feels" like " par for the course", but ther's actually a lot of minute differences, actually. the frst song has a decent lead in it, and the actual guitar work in the songs isa FAR more active than typical. There's a few spots where actuall blastbeats are thrown in (!)....The pieces to the puzzle are actually some of the most aggressive parts they've written, but due to the mix and atmoshperics, that doesn't hit home immediately.

Lyrically, it has a deep anger and sadness to it...I'm detecting a LOT of almost.......depression and inadequacy........in maintaining the desired relationship with God going on.....Howard still has the whole "vague" aesthetic going on...but I'm betting there are gong to be a LOT of poeple connecting with a few of these songs....

Lyrics to Starting Over :

Do you remember what we used to have?
As if all our dreams were possible
All that existed was you and I
But distance has torn us apart

Forgive me for all that I've done wrong
Lead me back to where my heart belongs

Can we start again?
Go back in time to where we started
Can we start again?
What we had can't be discarded

Do you remember the promises we made?
But somehow we have lost our way
Take me back to where my heart belongs
Forever grateful every day

I know that you doubt my words
I swear there will never be regret

Can we start again?
We thought love was everlasting
Can we start again?
What we had just can't be wasted

Silent thoughts were broken
And words that can't be taken back
But you mean so much more to me
Than anything, anything I've ever known

And this is the hope for tomorrow
That today you will return

Can we start again?
Go back in time to where we started
Can we start again?
What we have can't be discarded

Can we start again? (Do you remember?)
Can we start again? (All over)
Can we start again?

Go back in time to where we started

Lyrics to A Light In A Darkened World :

I see so much corruption
And it's hard to ignore
Living on greed and possessions
Is this what we're dying for?

Now choose this day
Who you will serve
To be the light in a darkened world

Many are willing to only live for themselves
Turning away from morality
Nothing can save you now

Now choose this day
Who you will serve
To be the light in a darkened world
You feel dissolved and the water's beginning to rise
Become the light in this darkened world

This is destiny
The choice is now defined
No more deception
Now change will come

It's in your hands
It's in your hands

Now choose this day
Who you will serve
To be the light
In a darkened world

It's in your hands
It's in you hands

Become the light in this darkened world

Lyrics to Save Me :

So much that I've done wrong it's an open book
I've done much more than my fair share of damage

What once was hidden now is crystal clear. Transformation is within me
To break the cycle I must turn to you
What I lack I gain through your virtue I gain through you

Even when I fall will you still believe. Even when I'm lost will you still believe

Shattered by the hate that I carry
Take me as I am and make me whole again
I am lost without a purpose always consumed by self
I freely give this calloused heart can you forgive me

Even when I fall will you still believe
Even when I'm lost will you still believe
Now I don't have much, will you save me
But I'll give it all, will you save me

I've made so many mistakes
And I've broken so many promises
I've searched inside and I'm empty
Will you save me Will you save me

Even when I fall will you still believe
Even when I'm lost will you still believe
Every time I fall will you save me
Even when I fall will you save me

I think this is going to be my second favorite of theirs behind Heartache. And the lyrics are always good, these guys can write.

Great lyrics...especially considering that KsE is not a "Christian band."
