| Now, to discuss this majestic album. Does anyone else have this yet? I purchased it a few days ago and I am massively impressed! Each and every song on "Revelation" is a winner! This is easily my third favorite Journey album of all-time (falling below only Frontiers and Escape). Sometimes I think Arnell Pineda sounds a bit too much like Perry but then again so did Castronova and Augeri on the last album. The songwriting on this new disc is superb. Far better than the last couple albums they released which were also good. You will find yourself singing and jamming along to most songs after only two or three listens. Very catchy hooks on this one. Very similar to the style they used in the 80's with a few modern tweaks from Neal Schon in the guitar department. When I say modern I don't mean in the sense most would think. He seems to have borrowed from The Edge and given a few riffs a U2 treatment. I don't know why people get so stuck on Steve Perry. While he was the singer for the bands most popular era he certainly wasn't the first or original singer of Journey. They have had many different incarnations and to dismiss this one just because they have a new singer is to not only sell the band short but to miss out on some of the best rock music made in the last decade. All that said... This is a three disc set that also features a new disc of RERECORDED Perry-era classics and a live DVD concert performance. I haven't gotten to either of those yet. I have heard the songs from the rerecording online and while they sound great I don't see any need for them. The originals really shouldn't have been touched. They should have simply included the live DVD which has live renditions of the Perry songs with Arnell singing anyway. _________________ "It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not."

| Picked it up at the store this past Wednesday (only $11.98 for the three disc set!). I literally can't get enough of this cd. After the first listen I wasn't sure (mostly because Pineda seemed like such a Perry clone) but after about a dozen or so spins I am convinced this is by far one of their best albums. Very solid work from the guys. _________________ "It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not."

| That's weird. They have tons of them at our local Wal-Mart. The only thing I don't like is that it's a digi-pak. I might still want to get the Frontiers Records European version if it's packaged in a jewel case. However, this one is a pretty fancy gatefold digi. _________________ "It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not."

| Is this a Wal-Mart exclusive cd? I don't mean the 3 disc package but just the Revelation cd? If not I'll probably get a promo of it tomorrow at Borders. _________________ Love Bomb Baby!

| For America, yes. It's a Wal-Mart exclusive. Meaning, as Rex said, you can get it ONLY at Wal-Mart (Bo Bice, Eagles and a few others have made exclusive deals with Wal-Mart). However, a deal was previously struck with Frontiers REcords out of Italy and if I understand right they will be releasing a version of this as well with a bonus track. When that is available you will be able to get it through http://www.NEHRecords.com _________________ "It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not."

| I should get this. This may be the only time I have actively anticipated a Journey album. _________________ “If you make less than $250,000 your taxes will not go up. | Wow... I watched the DVD tonight and it actually blew me away! I was more than impressed by the performance of Pineda. He is an absolutely incredible singer. He more than did justice to the old songs. The new songs, when performed live, have a certain uniqueness that really seperated him from Perry and showed that Pineda really is his own singer. The overall energy of the band was high. Neal Schon, Ross Valory and Jonathan Cain are all still at their peak IMHO. The biggest question now is WHY do they not allow drummer Deen Castronovo to sing all the lead vocals. He sounds as much or more like Perry than any other vocalist the band has ever had and hits every note pitch perfect (he sang lead on "Mother Father" on the DVD). _________________ "It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not."

Agreed...Deen is AMAZING!! I saw that new "Mother Father" clip and was blown away. He's happy singing a song or two live and doesn't want to be the frontman. This was brought up a lot when JSS was kicked out. |
