| I just can't support or buy this album as much as I'd like to, but I think they made a good choice in Arnel. He seems like a really good guy. That was a great interview. _________________ If we can walk together why can't we rock together - 7 SECONDS

| Yes, I agree. If there is anyone worthy of stepping into Perry's shoes it is Arnel. _________________ "It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not."

| I just picked it up this morning. After being on a buying hiatus, this is one of a few cd's Ive picked up this year and I'm glad I did. | Quote: | | I don't know why people get so stuck on Steve Perry |
I used to have the Perry or nothing mentality. I never supported the band after Perry's departure but there's just something about Arnel. Aside from the fact he sounds so close to Perry he has a certain charizma that pulls me into the music. The cds sound fantastic and the songwriting does remind me of Journey circa 1983-1986.
I have yet to watch the Arnel CBS interview but thanks for the forwarning, I'll get my tissues out. |

That's what I like about him also. He has a charisma and passion that Steve Augeri just didn't seem to have. _________________ "It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not."

This is a surprise. Of all folks around here I thought you'd be all over this, but to each his own. For me the bottom line is how the music makes me feel. Not the politics or whos in or whos out. But the emotions that the music brings about. These new songs really make me feel good.
Tell you what Shawn, buy the cd, if it doesnt make you feel good I'll buy it from you at full price including shipping no questions asked. Promise. |

I've heard a couple of full songs and then clips of the rest of the album. It's good stuff...the new singer sounds very good, himself. Good luck to him. "Never Walk Away" is a great song! But, I don't care who the band is, when your interviews are nothing but fake, television, PR bullcrap, I stop listening. I watched that CBS Morning Show footage and, aside from the new guy, that was the biggest B.S.-fest I've ever seen. What a bunch of fakes. "The magic us back!", "Knowing Arnel makes me a better person!", "We've never sounded better!"....gimme a freakin' break you bunch of spoiled, fame-hungry, attention-starved millionaires. You just wanted another voice who can keep your old butts on the road another 8 years. They screwed Augeri and ragged out his voice, they screwed Soto out of a job, and they're going to ride Arnel on the road til his throat bleeds and get someone else. Every replacement since Perry has been "the real deal" and brought back "the magic"...same ol' B.S. PR lines each time. I don't care how good the music is this time, I'm done. They don't need me anyway. I follwed when they replaced Perry, I followed the "hey, let's all sing" era, I followed when Soto came on board, I'm done. |

| Obviously there are two sides to every story. Shawn how do you know all this? How do you know that all teh members are "millionaires"? We all know that record sales don't automatically make you rich, just look at people like Ted Nugent or Motley Crue. I do know Jeff Scott Soto's side of the story and he claims he was dismissed without being told anything and that he still hasn't talked to any other member of the band. Now that is kinda raw if you ask me. According to Neal it's Perry that wants nothing to do with the band. They claim to have waited on him but he wouldn't cooperate or come back. Is there anywhere I can read Augeri or Perry's side of the story? _________________ "It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not."

| I've been following very closely since Augeri came on board 10 years ago. Interviews, fan forums, everything I could get my hands on. I've talked to people who know them. Yes, there are 2 sides to every story. Record sales don't make you rich. But, publishing alone for Escape (over 10 million sold in the US alone) will make the writers millionaires. Neither Nuge nor Crue has a Diamond album, to my knowledge. Add to that the other albums, tours, merch, song licensing (to everything from Family Guy to a car ad), reissues, DVD's. Deen & Ross may not be, but Schon & Cain (and Perry) I would wager are millionaires. Plus, Neal has his share in a lighting/sound company w/ Herbie Herbert that does tours for everyone from Nickelback to Metallica...Schon's loaded. Soto was treated extremely unfairly. They fired him before he even knew it and he found out from someone else who shares Journey's management while in Europe on the farewell Talisman tour. He came back to the USA to find a voice mail dismissing him from the band. They waited for Perry, and Perry is as much to blame as anyone. He drug his feet about medical issues after he was the one who put Journey back together for TBF and made commitments to them. As for Augeri, there is no way it was his idea to mime to a recording of himself for 2 years. The band made thier $$ off of touring and they toured Augeri to death. Had they any decency, they would have let Soto finish the tour, thank him, then give Augeri time to heal. They did the opposite, ditching/demeaning 2 great singers in the process. Now, they're on #3 since Perry. They're on TV saying the same old PR crap they said about Soto and Augeri. They're full of crap. They're fake. They're capitalizing on Arnel's rags to riches story for attention. They'll tour for a few years with him, probably never make another record, then when Arnel's voice gives out, they'll throw him away, too. I don't care how good the album is, or how much they are/were my favorite band...I'm tired of being dragged along and told everytime they change singers that "the magic is back" and "we sound better than ever". I've followed/supported Journey through all the changes, but when their true colors began to show w/ how they dealt w/ Soto, it began losing it's lustre for me. I was initially impressed with some of the new songs I heard, and I'm sure the album is very good, but I have no interest in buying it. |

| Wow, thanks for that link. To be honest I can understand both sides totally. From what Steve said about the walk of fame star I don't think either side hates each other as much as they act like they do sometimes. Also from what Neal said about cracking the stone in his interview. Seems like both sides had a large part in this. I still think the new cd is solid and they should have every right to go on. Perry sounds a little whiny at times regarding this. These guys may not be mother teresa but Perry knew that for years (saying he never felt like he fit in and that they were a prog jam band who didn't really want a singer) and he knows that the music business is ruthless. He is obvioulsy still making millions and says he wants nothing to do with them, so what are they expected to do just quit? _________________ "It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not."
