That interview about the election is pretty good. In fact, I'm gonna save it to my hard drive.

It was well written.

Blackie Lawless a christian! this is awesome. from these interviews it sounds like he is a believer in the word of God and end time prophecy. I have a former friend and co- worker who played in and listened to satanic bands like wasp and slayer and idolized blackie Lawless and wasp. So I hope that this is a convicting witness to him and helps change his thoughts on christianity and the bible. and I don't think slayer and wasp are satanic because I am a christian I even called them satanic when I was in the world.

Another cool interview- retreads some ground, but Blackie speaks about his faith being strong towards the end of the interview:

The mindblower for me is that I pretty much turned away from the sleazier stuff like WASP and MC after hearing Sab's "After Forever",early Trouble, etc, really only listened to them when there were girls around that liked those kinds of bands, but actually lost interest because of the lyrics. Now Blackie is writing more directly spiritual lyrics, yeah, that is mindblowing. Need to check out his latest stuff (Never, ever thought I would say that !)

Newer WASP (starting with Headless Children) sounds virtually nothing like "Blind In Texas", "Widowmaker" "Ballcrusher" or "Animal" era WASP. Much more depth to their songs musically and lyrically, minus the HORRID Helldorado disc, and some would say the industrial-tinged K.F.D. album (though I like KFD if I am in the mood).

Must owns from the "new" WASP catalog...

Crimson Idol
Still Not Black Enough
Neon God Pt. 1 (Part 2 is good, but not as solid)
Headless Children
Babylon

That being said, the others, including Dominator, Dying For The World, and Unholy Terror, are also very well written and performed.

By the way...big WASP fan! Top 10 band for me...

Where would you rank those must-have albums you listed, Arttie, in relation to their first three (W.A.S.P., Inside The Electric Circus, and The Last Command)?

Ahead of all three, and I really like those. But the lyrics are just so much more intelligent for the most part, and they are far more musical, for lack of a better word. Just a lot more depth to them all the way around.

I would rank the WASP catalog like this:

1. Crimson Idol
2. Headless Children
3. Still Not Black Enough (import version)
3A. Still Not Black Enough (American version)
4. Babylon (I think it's that good already!)
5. Dominator
6. Neon God Pt. 1
7. WASP
8. The Last Command
9. Unholy Terror
10. Neon God Pt. 2 (although it has one of their best songs ever!)
11. Inside The Electric Circus
12. Dying For The World
13. K.F.D.
14. Animal (F.L.A.B.) EP
15. Helldorado

And, yes, there is enough difference between versions of Still Not Black Enough to warrant separate rankings, in my opinion...

Cool, thanks.

I'm only really familiar with those first 3, so I wanted an honest opinion on where their other stuff stands...

You're welcome. Outside of the truly bad Helldorado, which I have no idea where Blackie was going there, and some stuff on K.F.D., there are rarely any sexual lyrics on the post-Inside The Electric Circus albums. I "think" Blackie was trying to go back to those days, for the old fans, with Helldorado, but they just sound ridiculous when put in the timeframe of where Blackie and Co. had matured to.

Artie you sold me.... I'll have to pick up 'The Crimson Idol'... I was familiar with their first three discs and not the new stuff.

Just saw Blackie on 'the Metal Show' and the comparrison to where he is now to where I remember him before is amazing....

Not at all. As a matter of fact he was really trying to distance himself from that 'older' image stuff.

In light of these recent 'revelations' about 'his direction' as it were pretty fascinating stuff.

Agreed. Mr.Electric39- it is indeed amazing to witness Blackie distance himself from the "schtick" on the first couple of albums. My interest in W.A.S.P. begins at "The Headless Children" period and onward, although I am avoiding "Helldorado" and "K.F.D." as well.

My first W.A.S.P. purchase was "Babylon" and "Dominator." Still waiting for both to arrive in the mail. But I heard so much praise for "The Crimson Idol" that I couldn't wait- a local store had a copy so I went ahead and purchased it. I am glad that I did!

As of now, I have also ordered "Dying for the World," "Unholy Terror," and "The Headless Children." I never thought I'd be a W.A.S.P. fan, but after reading some recent Blackie interviews, I appreciate Blackie's honesty with himself and toward his listeners to be a responsible "messenger" as he puts it.

I truly believe that Crimson Idol is a masterpiece. I don't say that lightly, either. It is just a phenomonal piece of work, and even better if you can find the two disc version that has some more of the story to it. Just excellent songwriting and performance.
