yeah, well I thought the interview I watched was interesting. I always like interviews that invlove deeper questions such as what is important to the band, symblosm, etc. It seems that nature is an important theme in Immortal. So I wouldn't say it is just about fantasy, although nature (in my opinion) does represent a higher world.

I think Immortal does definitely have an image, and I like bands like that, but I was a little unsure about what they said about things like the inverted cross just being part of that image. I know that the pentagram/inverted cross have really becaome a symbol of black metal (Summoning uses it in their logo, but definitely not a Satanic band in any way), but I can't say I like it. It led to an interesting discussion in that interview.

Well, the inverted cross is originally a "Christian" thing anyway, as this was how Peter asked to be crucified, feeling he was unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as Christ, and the pentagram, depending on orientation, has been co-opted by various religions and causes for 50 odd centuries....neither is in itself, an exclusively occultic thing.....and now, both of them have become part of yet another imagery, that being one associated with "being metal"

Image is meaningless without intent, and differing intents can give similar imagery different meaning.....sometimes image is nothing more than that. If a band says there's nothing to it other than "it's just 'metal' imagery", then why struggle to find contradiction in it?
