| I love how so many people on this board and others judge metal 100% on the vocals. Those guitar riffs couldn't be any more generic. |

| Vocals are the main thing many of us here. I grant that several bands I like are nothing special music-wise, but have great vocals. But bad vocals utterly ruin a band for me. The music can be unbelievable, but if the vocals aren't good, I won't give it a second listen. |

| I see what ToB means, but I am like a lot of people here...you can have the best, most technical guitar playing in the world, but if the vocals suck, I can't listen to your band. Just the way it is. If your vocalist is THAT terrible...fire him and play instrumentals! | bad vox = bad cd for me as well. I thing good vocals help hide more generic playing but poor vocals cant be hidden anywhere.. That is a one of the biggest reasons I really dont listen to death/black metal anymore - the vocals just get on my nerves... Alex |

| I miss Tim. This sounds decent but hopefully the album will be much improved. _________________ I don't have time for all if it, so I pick my battles. And on the other hand, since you guys don't care about guitar riffs at all, maybe they should just play all-accapella music since you guys don't seem to focus on the music at all.
I'm not saying guitar playing has to be technical to be good. That's neither here nor there.
It needs to be well-written and have some sort of character that separates it from everyone else.
This sounds like something pretty much anyone could write. Totally forgettable generic stuff. And the response people have is which vocalist is better .... both guys are singing the exact same vocal melodies aren't they?
It just boggles my mind how people can ignore everything to focus 100% on the singers. Talk about missing the point of heavy metal music.
Black Sabbath didn't create the foundation of heavy metal music because Ozzy's voice was so earth-shatteringly wonderful. Open your ears and realize there is more than one musician doing interesting things in metal bands. |

| TOB, I really don't think anyone here is ignoring the guitarwork. Most people, myself included, do put the guitar first. However, even if you have the greatest guitar playing around a horrible singer can ruin the music. You mentioned Black Sabbath. I feel that way about them. While I enjoy *some* early Sabbath I really don't listen to much of their early work because Ozzy is so nasal and monotone that after a while it just grates on the nerves. I would much rather put on some Dio or Martin fronted Sabbath! _________________ "It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not."

| THIs is how Iced Earth is supposed to sound!!!! I'm a guitar player...that's usually the first thing I hear....in genres other than this. Power metal tends to be SO vocal centric that you can't HELP but notice the vocals first. As far as "generic riffs" go.... 1) 30-40 seconds worth of a song isn't really any way to judge a track that could be 4-5 minutes in length.... 2) Did you like any of the material on the last album with Ripper? because 3 of the 4 samples are songs off that disc, but with Barlow doing the vocal tracks......personally, these versions blow me away comparatively. _________________ Obama is no more the Anti-Christ than George Bush is Sauron, sending his armies into Iraq searching for the One Ring.....

I believe I'm permitted to like what I want. I love good vocals. They matter more than the music. |

| No. You must choose, or be forced to endure eternity with a headphone set glued to your head. Pompous flower guy will be hard panned to one side, and Iced Earth swoondom on the other. Such shall be your fate shouldst thou continue to try to straddle the fences of either neutrality or apathy. now choose................. _________________ Obama is no more the Anti-Christ than George Bush is Sauron, sending his armies into Iraq searching for the One Ring.....

| lol I can't believe what I'm reading. lol Why would anyone even WANT to listen to a band that they think has bad vocals and they don't like it? That's dumb IMO. Anyway Iced Earth's most recent move of replacing vocalists again is why so much attention is being placed on the vocals. |
