While it's not the highest quality process, what I have done to record my old cassettes electronically is to run a stereo quarter inch line from the cassette player's headphone jack to the mic jack on my soundcard. I record it to a .wav file and burn that to cd. I also convert the .wav file to mp3 for my iPod, but the mp3 is a lower quality file than the .wav.
Low tech, but there was no additional cost involved and it is very easy to do._________________ “If you make less than $250,000 your taxes will not go up. | There are some decent, and cheap, programs to help you transfer cassettes to CD by helping you remove tape hiss and other noises. Check into those. _________________ "I have no desire to speak w/other tongues, I already do enough damage w/the one I have!!" - Candlemass |

| I haven't sworn off physical CDs (just ordered an old Crumbacher, and picked up the new Cru), but I'll take my new stuff (whenever possible) in digital form. |

Do you have any program names for these thingies? I've got a ton of tapes I'd love to change over to MP3s. |
