Best Alice in Chains album?

What's the best Alice in Chains album?

Facelift is my favorite, but I think Dirt is their best. It really captures
what the band was about, and would probably be the best disc for
someone who is new to the band...

I was fortunate to see them open for KISS in Detroit in '96 (which was
amazing for me, especially as I was only 16 and AIC and KISS were my
two favorite bands at the time...my dad was cool enough to take my
brother and I!). It was one of the last shows Layne ever performed at.

Also their least-known/appreciated.

"Brother" is one of their best songs...

But they don't have a single bad album.

I loved the single "Get Born Again"...they could have kept on making some great music if not for Layne's addiction...

Yup. Tragic. I was glad that Jerry decided to continue the band without Layne.

AiC is on my top five of favorite rock bands.

I like the acoustic EPs, Dirt is the classic though.

I'm on the fence with this. Normally, I'm willing to give a band the benefit of the doubt when they change vocalists, but Layne had that unique quality that, to me, made Alice in Chains stand truly on their own in that era. I haven't heard the new guy yet, and I don't know if I'll really want to. I'm afraid that I'll hold him to Layne's vocal standards, and that's not fair if you ask me.

It's part of the problem why I didn't enjoy much of Jerry Cantrell's solo stuff, but I've been considering buying those again to revisit that era.

Dirt is my pick.

Dirt is definitely my favorite - that one's a classic. Facelift is a very close second though. Very Happy
