FIRES OF BABYLON is a newly formed band
cranking out classic 1980s-style shredding U.S. heavy metal. The group
features in its ranks the highly skilled and lauded lineup of guitarist
Lou St. Paul (WINTERS BANE), vocalist Rob Rock (solo; ex-IMPELITTERRI), bassist Kelly Conlon (ex-DEATH, MONSTROSITY), and drummer Robert Falzano (SHATTER MESSIAH; ex-ANNIHILATOR).

Very impressed by Lou's playing on WINTERS BANE's "Redivivus" album, the owner of European label Metal Heaven Records asked St. Paul to write the material and put together a band to record a classic, shredding '80s metal album — and FIRES OF BABYLON is the result.

FIRES OF BABYLON's debut album, "Devilution", will feature 10 crushing, fist-in-the-air metal anthems, and will be released in early 2008 on Metal Heaven Records.

No doubt, that sounds awesome! No need to review, just need to buy! I like that "fist in the air" line.

This didn't sound "80s" to me on first listen. Not sure where they got that from.

It's pretty good but nothing mindblowing that's for sure. I would rank Rob's solo albums higher.

After repeated listens I have grown to enjoy this. It's still nowhere near the best of stuff Rob has been on but still it's Rob Rock!! Smile

The samples sound too bland.I was hoping for much better considering the talent involved

I'm glad I waited, even though I said I wouldn't. This isn't 80's style metal at all. Its modern American power metal. Many will like it, and good for them. But I'm not a fan of it at all. I'll stick with Rob's more melodic and truly 80's style work.

I can't believe that people are saying that this is bad or that it had to grow on them. I could understand someone like myself saying it. However, I loved it on the first spin!
