...and it's probably their LEAST popular/liked album. I absolutely love "The Elder" but the band never plays any songs from this album. This is "The Oath." They also had a song at the end of this album called "I" and it's one of their best songs in my thinking--but they refuse to perform anything from this era.

They performed "A World Without Heros" on their live acoustic CD.

I like the Elder, but it was a commercial failure for the band and stepped a bit outside of what Kiss was. Ace was completely against doing a concept album and thought the band should return to writing heavy metal and hard rock. Eric Carr, who wasn't given an opinion, also thought the band should go back to their roots. Funny thing is, after this album bombed and Ace had had enough, the band finally did go back to their roots and recorded "Creatures of the Night".

The Elder is actually the one I find the most musically and lyrically satisfying...Only You, World Without Heroes, Under the Rose, The Oath....the whole album is very thought provoking...which is something I don't really think could be said about other KISS albums. I love all the KISS albums, but that one just speaks volumes of the band's ability to write great, quality songs.

I love Music From The Elder, it has been a favorite of mine for 20 years or so. They did play 3 of the songs on a show called Fridays. The band was far from thier best, especially Ace, however it is good to hear theses songs live.
