| I've noticed that a lot of my favorite Christian Metal songs have no corresponding video on youtube. They are few and far between. I'm still searching and trying to build a best of the best playlist. But I need the help of those in the know, the experts that know of bands I probably don't. So I've come here to ask you all this: If you had to name the ultimate Christian Metal video, what would it be? Or let me put it this way - if you were going to post one Christian Metal video on a secular metal board, which one would you post? Thanks in advance. _________________ " And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:" - Acts 17:30

| I would probably post Oblation's Dead Unborn or Tourniquet's Ark of Suffering. Both were obviously done on virtually no budget, but sometimes that is considered a plus in metal. Great songs, great visuals, powerful messages. Those would be my picks. |

| I am going to have to get into your band more ( that song rocks), I have the album with "Burn" on it, but that song proves to me I need to get more. |

| There are plenty of good Christian metal videos. See The Showdown, The Famine, Disciple, Norma Jean, The Chariot, MyChildrenMyBride, Underoath, Falling Up, Project 86 - to name a few. |

| Well, not in the classic sense, definitely not. But, how can you not dig The Showdown if you like metal? I love the classic metal stuff, but those guys are one of my all time favorites already. They are totally metal.

Blech! A lot of that isn't metal IMO. |
I totally agree |

| I'll have to give props to The Showdown, but a lot of those bands are not metal, IMO. _________________ “If you make less than $250,000 your taxes will not go up. The Showdown absolutely rock! Not too big on their videos, but the music is tops. |

| The first Showdon album was excellent, but the Southern metal album was disappointing after the first album. Backbreaker is ok but is disappointing because it is not a Christian album, if it is they went over a lot of peoples heads on that one. It also does not measure up to the first album. The Showdown = a band that does not know who they are |

| ??? Of course Back Breaker is a Christian album by a Christian band. There is a lot of imagery, but they have not changed their message or Christian stance. |

| The first one was alright to me. I actually like some tracks they recorded live better than the studio versions. The second one is what got me hooked. Backbreaker just blew me out of the water. It is a perfect blend of both albums and is heavy as heck. I understand the problem some have with the greek myth based lyrics, but it is no different then what C.S. Lewis did with the Narnia tales or even his space trilogy. |

I'd be interested to know what this album means then, I have poured over the lyrics many times. I have read all of the the CS Lewis books, all of the Tourniquet lyrics. I understand them, allegory does not confuse me but the Showdown did. I suspect the lack of clear lyrics posslibly mean sell out. Here is a cool video I stumbled upon recently: Mortification http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p79nSYmVrUU |

| Why are you so quick to accuse? You don't know them, and have no basis to make such a claim. You can check recent interviews where they tell how much they love Jesus and are devoted to the faith. |

| Here's the lyrics for Backbreaker:| Quote: | We are too old to cry, too young to die. We're bound to the promise of better lives. We're bought and sold, content to know, That we'll never have to fight if we do what we're told. We are warrior sons but we run from a cause, That brings freedom and purpose and hope to us all. We would rather be a product of the world and it's whims, Than have the world be a product of the force of our wills.
|
This obviously deals with complacent christian youth that do not stand up for Christ, but instead let the world dictate their lives.
| Quote: | RISE. And at the sound of our standing the earth will groan. RISE. And we will break their backs. |
Stand up for the gates of hell cannot prevail!
| Quote: | And we will stretch for days and miles and years, Pulled across the fabric of our hopes and fears. We'll pay the price, the sacrifice. Rebels and angels, a storm on white light. |
We will run and not tire.
| Quote: | Earth shakers, life takers, Passion and purpose makes men of us all. The slow rotting, the cancerous fear, The corruption, we put a stop to it here.
Brothers in arms to me. RISE. And at the sound of our standing the earth will groan. RISE. And we will break their backs with the weight of our will.
Give us insurrection. Give us something to say. Give us thirst for vengeance. And we will break their backs with the weight of our will. |
This is pretty much more of the same.
Most of it is just titles and themes, with the lyrics not dealing much with the title. If you read C.S. lewis's Space Trilogy, he uses Venus & Mars as ruling angels over their namesake planets even appearing as thus named dieties. Some people can (and would) see that as blasphemous. I saw it as just being creative. Even in Narnia Dionysus makes an appearance. If I am not mistaken, he is the god of wine (drunkedness) and eventually orgies. So one of the greatest apologist of our time was not above using the greek myths. |
